3 years 5 months agoTNaicker - Having backed that horse, I think the fact that she raced it three wide the entire race had more of an impact than any amount of overweight. Also, check your facts, it was way further behind the 3rd place than 0.8l.
Thanks...corrected as your post came through...
Didn't watch the race...
Just questioning whoever allowed the jockey overweight to completely nullify any benefit of apprentice claim...could have just had an experienced jockey riding at carded mass of 53kgs...maybe then, would not have placed horse 3 wide and finished closer...

I agree but being pragmatic about it, despite giving the horse zero chance in the race, they are apprentices for a reason, so let's give the appie a break here.

Only reason (given that there were other experienced jockeys that could ride carded masss of 53kgs) apprentice was given mount was that there was the benefit of the 2,5kgs allowance...if trainer knew that jockey's normal riding is 53,5kgs, then that's a bit nonsensical to put a apprentice thereon...if the jockey pitched up on the day 3kgs overweight then it's for the stipes to act thereon...
Anyway, not much makes sense but we grin and bear it...too much is taken for granted...they expect the mugs to keep returning...
A happy and prosperous 2022 to you and family...

I once met Mr Spies on July day in the trainers parking lot he was looking like the undertaker. Hoping he can bring home William Robertson.

I think Rachel is restricted to 54Kgs so was never going to be able to claim. The trainer would have been told that and would have been able change riders if he had wanted.

A good start to the year and nice win for the stable with Run for Isla and Humble ran a gutsy race and look forward to 2022.
