Nothing strange Thor.
They shorten it to odds on early so as to entice the punter that this is the one to play your doubles around.
Come race time and it's nearly back to it's original odds.
Bob at one stage a few years ago got info straight from the bookies association about the horses shortening and he would post it here but they soon stopped him from getting the info,I wonder why.
