No horse anywhere on the planet is worth a punt for a win less than 2-1.
Rather go for a place:
R8) 14 Raisetheredlantern 18-10

Easy to talk after the fact, but imo the favorite in the first today (Pottinger) is a 'more realistic' 5/10 shot than Desert Miracle was; the formline of his 2nd run (first run as a gelding) looks much better than any of his opposition, the only slight question mark to me is that the Peter stable took a whole host of favorites to Turffontein on Tuesday and they all got beat (most of them not even finding a place) - so on form he should be 5/10, but overall I think evens would be a fair price (either he wins or he doesn't

Race 1 Arlington Action to give Paul Peter horse a run for its money. Work riders so no bet
Race 2 open race
Race 3 9 is fav. good form. Matchett runner 10/1 worth including.
Race 4 Rainy season Blinker strike
Race 5 Golden Tune. seems to have figured out racing. Good draw.
Race 6 River doon down 5 points.
Race 7 Look yourself
Race 8 lotsa horses in with a chance. going with 6 and 15

Usual midweek card that seems to get harder as the day progresses - thoughts:
R1: Pottinger looks hard to beat (slight worry about the Peter stable's form on Tuesday), main danger imo is Just a Memory who made a fair debut and then was bumped around the turn is his next run
R2: Juveniles - again the Peter stable's form needs to be taken on trust, but Fennec Fox does look the right one of the raced runners; the de Kock debutante is finding market support, so is the danger to FF; for me I think National Star needs a lot of improvement to challenge; any of the debutantes could surprise
R3: Defender of Rights after 2 seconds look the one to beat; I am including Pink Diamond who has shown improvement before a rest - Bling rides for the Azzies who has only one runner on the day; the rest look really moderate, but In the Ether could still improve
R4: Classified Stakes, where the females have an advantage at the weights; I do think Anatura is good value - inconsistent, but has pole position and Bling really gets on well with her; Sybaris also has nice draw and must have a chance; others like Dame of Flames, Sergei and Light Warrior could feature, while even the likes of Lady Calavera, Fasinada and Rainy Season (isn't it just  ) can upset should the fancied runners fail
R5: Another Classified Stakes, and the weights could play a big part here; at first glance Captain of Grit does look a worthy favorite, but he is not well treated under the conditions of the race - he could however be better than rated and not to be ignored completely; Gilda Gray is best in with Scottadito and the formless Timeforthat, while Light of the Moon (ran behind Chansonette and made a pleasing local debut from a wide draw) and Castle of Glass are also well enough weighted - I'm finding it hard, so I'm going wide
R6: Baby Don't Hurt Me (Peter stable ) won her maiden convincingly and the form of that race has been franked - imo could be the one to consider as a banker in the P6; should she fail Midnight Gem looks the main danger; most of the others seem to have something against them or are held on form - this is racing however, so an upset not impossible
R7: Competitive handicap where many have chances
R8: Toughest race on the card, where I am hoping to survive the PA (if I get here) with Euro Cent, Waqaas, Moya Wa Laliga and Tambora; Sound of Hounds should improve more this trip and could be the upset.
Enjoy

I am sure it went to 9/10 and ran second to answer my own question.
