URGENT REMINDER – RACING BEHIND CLOSED DOORS PROTOCOLS


The NHA is being inundated with calls from a racing publication and other concerned stakeholders that when attending race meetings many racegoers are not abiding by the Covid-19 protocols. The Racing Operators have strict guidelines in place and are ensuring that when a person enters the racecourse these guidelines must be adhered to, however, it has been found that unfortunately some are not doing so. We urge all racegoers to ensure that they do not pose a risk to themselves and others. Individual responsibility will assist the Operators in ensuring compliance.

There are huge rumblings that a 5th wave of this virus is eminent in South Africa. We have been provided with news that the potential new Omicron sub-variant BA.2 is emerging, and it appears to be more transmissible than the first variant. A surge in the pattern of transmission has been seen in the UK, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Australia. International experience shows that the new BA.2 variant can rapidly overtake the current BA.1 variant.

Based on the above and in order ensure the sustainability of the horseracing industry in South Africa, we urge everyone to continue adhering to the Covid-19 protocols not only whilst attending race meetings, but in general.

The proven non-pharmaceutical measures of wearing of masks, hand sanitizing/washing and social distancing is critical and it has been proven that the vaccine is effective. We urge people to vaccinate and take the necessary boosters. Thus far we are proud to be one of the leading sectors that has continued uninterrupted since the beginning of the virus with the exception of the two-month period that our industry was shut down between 27 March until 31 May 2020.

Whilst we understand the emotional strain and exhaustion this pandemic has created over the past 2 years, people need to understand that whilst the community has gone to sleep on the virus, the virus hasn't gone to sleep on the community.

And it has been proven that the Vaxxinated could also spread the whatamacallit.
Also there is a situation where if there is shortage of 1 type of Vaxx then those rolling it out will mix and match with other Vaxxes.
And the expiry dates need to be checked.
Also they need to confirm that it is expiremental and a trial Vaxx.
Also any adverse reactions to be taken up by the racing police body on your behalf?

As the planet opens up we continue our state of emergency.
We can only guess that some ANC official has masks to sell at inflated prices.

'Eminent vs Imminent' = Eminent is often used to describe someone or something that stands out above others in a noticeable way (in a positive manner) , while imminent is used to describe something that is about to happen very soon.
My definition of the NHA : A organisation that loves to waffle on, cajole, bully and threaten but often has no idea as to what it's doing or talking about.

To point to the obvious regarding this new variant is ridiculous and besides the more people that get the Omicron variant the better. This variant presents with mild symptoms lasting +/- 3 days and a very low mortality rate.

Further to the above has anyone noted (or commented) on the number of topclass athletes that are being sidelined with 'blood clotting' issues recently? I read of no less than 3 reported on cases so far this week.
Earlier this year I was rather alarmed to learn that the husband of a client of mine (an enthusiastic tri-athlete in his early 50's) died very shortly after being vaccinated. Hours after having the jab he complained of feeling unwell and died 48 hours later. Co-incidence? Who knows.
I'm 69 and have had Covid twice ( the first round in January 2020 before it was 'a thing' and the second bout in December 2021) and found it to be somewhat.......er......over hyped.

You have gone and set the anti vaxers off that frequent ABC Garrick. Bet they are tree huggers as well. Yesterday two people were killed to a road accident about 10 miles from me. They both were tripple jagged. Bladdy vaccine killing people in road accidents.

To be fair to the medical professionals, not one said if an individual is fully vaccinated, including having had a booster jab, an individual WILL NOT DIE from COVID 19.

What I do find strange is that the jockeys at Fakenham were wearing masks. Has something changed?

New variant of Omicron.... They reckon it's rife but everything is good if you are vaccinated

If you dig deep ( it's being hidden by the press) there seems to be a start of a wave coming.

Just as someone like me (with health issues) was starting to get confident again.
