Trainer J A Soma was charged with a contravention of Rule 10.5.17.3 in that he had in his possession Schedule 3, 4 & 5 medications, namely PURBACK, EXOCIN, DEPOCILLIN, ACEPROMAZINE, GENTAMICIN, FLUMETHASONE & OMEPRACOTE which were prescribed more than thirty (30) days previously, are expired or remain unused from or superfluous to previous prescribed treatments. Trainer Soma signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R8500.00.

Quite a lot of old meds.

.....most topical medication if stored correctly have a much longer shelf life.....however it is the packaging that limits the shorter expiry date.....when seconded to a pharma company in the 80's all the staff would after a weekly Friday sales meeting sit in the boardroom and strip and discard the packaging and then bag the mainly coated pills for repackaging ....

.....more recently a couple living in our neighborhood had the sales rights for a small packaging machine that stripped and sorted tablets with a single operator feeding it with full expired boxes of medication....and they soon moved from a R1M townhouse to a ZARBAR15 mansion....recon they have plenty customers doing similar.....
