I think Van Heerden definitely has other business interests and one of them could be Riverworld Stud.

He owned Badgers Gift the mare which won the Grade 1, Paddock Stakes. Also Sudden Storm, if not for injury whilst a 3yo could have been better. Was never the same thereafter. Sudden Storm is the sire of shock winner Savannah Storm who won the Drum Star Stakes at huge odds with a rating in the 70s.

.....a very good horseman and if he were better marketed and had bigger connection's he would make a greater impact on the training ranks....I do not believe he is related to the Van Heerden family of Riverworld Stud who started owning horses with Glen Kotzen....but do recall that Jurgen had interests outside of racing when he was at Rantjies... : .I like the type of horses he gets into his small syndicate.... and that 1st timer in an earlier race today will soon pop up over a shorter trip....

He was a highly successful property developer when he was at Ranjies and tried to relocate to the Cape and train from Milnerton in 2019....but we know that racing hit a brick wall at that time....I hope he gets to train there eventually....

So I take it that Badgers Gift owner is a different person with the same Surname and initials. Eish was following this trainer Van Heerden all the time and was mistaken.

Lastly, D Cason, the trainer, was he the owner of Goldmark? I presume he is training and hoping for another Goldmark but has other business interests. I read before that Rhys van Wyk is his assistant/works for him.

......not sure of the connections of Goldmark as I once met an oke that claimed he trained Goldmark and he was at the time a bit down and out....maybe other clanners like Easy who were close to that setup would know more ....

.....but if Jurgen van Heerden got more support he would train a bigger string of better horses... as I think he has never had more than a dozen in his yard.....
