Feel sorry for Tienie Prinsloo.

When Main Defender won its debut I did post after that its related to Alexandra Rose who raced in South Africa and is a broodmare in Australia.

Interestingly, she produced Oleksandra who won the Jaipur Stakes in the USA about 3 years ago.

The Jaipur Stakes is on Belmont Day. The 2023 Belmont was won by a relatively unknown lady trainer. Also the Kentucky Derby was won by a trainer formerly from Venezuela. Sometimes you need the right horse and some luck to make it in the big stage even if you a so called "small trainer". At least Prinsloo did get an acknowledgement but he may have lost out on a high calibre horse.

Let me start by saying i am not looking for spooks.

I am sure other trainers are trying there best to figure out how Peter' yard can turn horses around, from being no hopers in CPT and in some cases PE. to winning three in a row in Gauteng.

Barend Botes gets it right to a lesser degree with CPT chuck out but Peter' yard is making regular improvements with these CPT horse.

Questions
1. Are the CPT maidens that much stronger than CPT!
2. is he showing that a Boutique operation can unlock potential in underperforming horses that gets missed in the Big yards?
3. Or is it just the old adage of new scenery?

Well done to his team and also to owner Viljoen treble on the day.

Captain Hindsight

GVN rode this horse once and “misjudged” the winning post at Turffontein………….

I was wondering the same thing the other day. They were raking in the winners to be fair.

With that accent and surname, he is definitely not a cuzzie from da south. However, he remains one of the most reliable jocks in the saddle when the stable money is on!

I would not read anything into how the bigger stables book their jockeys. Snaith's results today is a good example and that's how the big stables roll ...

Swarts will be the stable go to guy for the forseeable future.
