Stablemate/Coupling rule needs to be reviewed in some way.
2 years 1 month ago
Along with the MR System and the weird barrier draw rule in Hollywoodbets country this is my third pet aggravation.
How often in a week do we see the Unfancied stable mate roll over the more fancied runner.
With the advent of big yards in all but the KZN region this coupling issue needs to be reviewed.
Punters do their money in cold blood. If u the trainer have a fav and a substantially less fancied stablemate beats it. U should have to appear before a committee to explain.
And if ur explanation is unreasonable u get a fine.
if u are a repeat transgressor u get a bigger fine.

I hear you.
But trainers dont price up horses, bookies do.
I know that you could say that bookies use stats to price up, but i do know that they get influenced rather easily by looking at jockey arrangements etc etc .
Take yesterday 2nd race for example, even with hindsight the Crawford horse could never be a 33/1 chance in that field, and wygug with 1 draw was always going to struggle and was never a bet in my opinion.

This where the stablemate roles over an odds on buddy is not good for the sport.

I still firmly believe that this coupling rule needs to massaged in favor of the punters.
Race 3 least fancy of 4 stablemates wins
Race 4 Coupling rule would have saved a few P6s
Race 1 and 10 makes no difference to Exotics but could have helped out P3 and Doubles.

I agree with this especially given the abuse of "Stable Jockeys" picking the wrong one

Should have couplings on all exotics and would help punters and pools. Huge stables have changed the landscape of racing

I would be in favour of this remember it's more beneficial for the tote to turn over money as much as possible and give the punters a chance.
