Ready-To-Run Gallops at Summerhill Friday
Written by Administrator

THE Summerhill Ready To Run breeze-up gallops will take place at Summerhill Stud on Friday, 17 October starting at 11:30, two weeks in advance of the Emperors Ready To Run Sale on 2 November at the TBA Sales Complex, Gosforth Park.

Buyers please note that the Gauteng R2R gallops will be held at James Maree’s Eikenhof establishment on Saturday, 18 October, starting at 12.30pm, and not on Sunday 19 October as originally advertised.

Summerhill will be laying it on this Friday, providing a very smart venue in the form of a fully draped, glass-fronted marquee overlooking the track, with a top-class meal and some fine wines.

A panel comprising of Dean Kannemeyer, Mike Azzie, Graeme Hawkins, Sean Tarry, Michael Roberts and Eamonn Cullen will provide buyers with notes, observations and personal shortlists after the gallops.

To ensure that the smaller players get a roll of the dice, Summerhill will be allowing up to six cheques for purchases this year. Six installments will be accepted for buys over R200 000; five for buys exceeding R150 000; four for buys exceeding R100 000 and three cheques for buys of R60 000 or more in aggregate.

“This innovation has made the buyer’s bench at Summerhill the biggest in the land and goes a long way to fulfilling the small buyers’ dream of purchasing a champion,’’ says Mick Goss of Summerhill Stud.

Other good news is that Phumelela has approved two additional runners in what promises to be a cracking line-up of R2R Graduates in the Emperors Ready To Run Cup on 1 November at Turffontein. A full field of 16 runners will line up in the race which set the standard for three-year-olds classics last season.
