Turfontein 531 races + 11 work riders races 70.7 million in stakes
Fairview 434 races + 5 work riders races - 34.3 million in stakes
Kenilworth 342 races + 9 work riders races - 60.3 million in stakes
Vaal 341 races + 32 work riders races - 30.5 million in stakes
Scottsville 213 races - no work riders races - 23.2 million in stakes
Durbanville 106 races - no work riders races = 10.1 million in stakes

Have a look at the complete insanity of the race program....why on earth would you make a handicap for these riders?....they cannot make the weight...riders overweight 5.5kg ...that is defeating the handicap principal....and the constant suspension of riders for whip abuse....why not make the races whip free?...trainers can't find riders to take rides at the weights and at one time I think there were about 6 of these riders suspended so how do you then make up a race?...I believe work riders races should actually be the entry level for appies.... if more appies had to qualify in these races we would soon eliminate those that should chose another career path instead of wasting resources on non starters

Hewittson ,Habib and Domeyer all started in work rider races.
Also looks as if the Hollywood run tracks don’t really want these races if you look by the statistics. Cape Town used to have regular races.
