11:25 Race 01: WELCOME TO NELSON MANDELA BAY MAIDEN JUVENILE PLATE (For 2 year old fillies) to be run on polytrack over a distance of approximately 1000 metres.

All the runners at a glance

1 Bella Attrice .. Had Stage Play behind in penultimate start and that horse recently picked up a race, but this filly has not progressed that well as evident from her last run. Still has a chance.

2 Josi Mo .. Poor show so far.

3 Lady D'Arbanville .. Rejected from the Highveld circuit and makes her local debut, is not bred for sprinting distances, blinkers and tongue tie are latest additions to bring about improvement. Races with hope rather than merit.

4 Magmalicious .. A reject from western cape circuit making her debut here, is half sister to Grinkov who has picked up 3 races, once over 1200m and twice over 1600m, feel the trip is on the sharper side. There is no confidence in the betting market as well.

5 Peace Frog .. Another reject from western cape who made a decent debut here last run, has a chance based on that run.

6 Swiftwinged .. Ran a good race last time by trying start to finish tactics and succumbing at the post finishing under 1/2 a length behind over 1300m, stepping down in trip is not a good idea and probably is trying to make use of the initial pace which she has to run away with the race.

7 The Lady Love .. has been a disappointment since making her debut, is not bred for sprints and needs more distance to make an impression. Since jockey Richard Fourie retains the ride and persists with her, more of a chance for inclusion in backend of exotics.

8 Time For Katie .. Poor show so far.

Race Summary: If Stage Play is taken as a reference horse then 1 Bella Attrice has beaten it comprehensively whereas 5 Peace Frog couldn't beat it on debut here and with nothing else emerging as strong contender feel this is the right race for 1 Bella Attrice to exit the maiden ranks.

Analysis (if it can be called that) of Race 02 to follow next.

11:55 Race 02: TAB TELEBET 0861 000 822 OPEN MAIDEN (For Maiden R15 000 Win Bonus ROA Members) to be run on polytrack over a distance of approximately 1200 metres.

All the runners at a glance

1 Miraculous Man .. has run good races over the minimum trip but was found wanting when stretched a bit in last run, was drawn widest that day as well, bit of an enigma to be very honest.

2 Western Jack .. not that impressive runs so far and was behind 1 Miraculous Man in one of the earlier runs, gets to shake off 4.5 kgs but hard to fancy inspite of good jockey booking.

3 Janneman .. poor show so far.

4 Hollywood Star .. Gets to shake off 5.5kgs which is a positive as the race is a open maiden, negatives being jockey booked is riding at 1kg overweight, coughing in last 3 runs and not that good breeding credentials for sprinting distances.

5 Landingonthemoon .. Has had 17 starts in western cape over longer distances with no success and gives PE racing a try, cheek pieces replace blinkers, has shown good initial pace which can enable better performance. Each way chance.

6 Gaetana .. Filly taking on the boys with poor form.

7 Kind Of Blue .. Filly taking on the boys and gets to shed 6kgs and small place chance if others are not upto it.

8 Misava .. Filly from highveld circuit with very poor recent form taking on the boys, bit difficult even with weight turnaround.

Nothing stands out as a proper contender but someone will pass the post first and hoping 5 Landingonthemoon gives a stiff fight to that horse.

If time permits then some pointers of another race will be posted.

15:05 Race 07: WALMER HANDICAP (For Fillies and Mares - Non-Black Type) to be run on polytrack over a distance of approximately 1800 metres.

Due to time restraints cannot put detailed comments of each runner here but overall summary of this race from my view is as follows.

If 2 Medlers Tart is touted to win this race as is leading the betting market as of now then on 17th March 2023 this filly won the Oaks Plate over similar distance of 1800m carrying 54kgs beating 3 Double Destiny by 1.75 Lengths and was in receipt of 2kgs from her, today she is carrying 57.5kgs which is 3.5kgs more and 3 Double Destiny is carrying 55.5kgs which is 0.5kg less and overall 3 Double Destiny gets a 4kgs pull for that defeat by 1.75L and strongly feel she can turn the tables on the market fancy.

Having said that my grouse is that conditioner Alan Greeff could have as well seen this and booked stable elect to ride this filly but preferred to do otherwise and have no other option but to respect his decision.

The dark horse if any has to be 5 Definitely Maybe.

16:20 Race 09: NEXT FAIRVIEW RACEMEETING FRIDAY 14 JULY FM 66 HANDICAP (For Fillies and Mares) to be run on polytrack over a distance of approximately 1200 metres.

Conditioner Lunga Gila is doing exceptionally well off late and his ward 6 Grue Of Ice should run a bold race in this race which has lot of hard knockers in it.
