Imagine if jockeys in the UK had the same mindset, there would be no racing for 6 months of the year

I live within 20km from the Vaal Track. We had some light rain on and off. Not at any stage was there a downpour or volume that would require meeting to be cancelled. Very strange decision.

4Racing Media Release
Vaal Meeting for Thursday, 12 October 2023 Abandoned
Johannesburg, 12 October 2023
5mm of rain fell at the Vaal on Thursday, 12 October 2023. After the running of race 1, concerns were raised about the safety of the racing surface.
A track inspection was held and although a consensus could not be reached among the inspection committee, the jockeys were unanimous in their opinion that the surface was not suitable for racing.
A decision was therefore made to abandon the remainder of the card.

Would like to know what reasons were given to motivate that the track was 'not suitable for racing' - were there holes, was it uneven - because surely the track could not have been too wet (after 5mm of rain) ?
The NHA should investigate and call in the Track Manager - if the track was indeed 'not suitable for racing', the reasons should be made public - and if the track was just 'too wet', then the jocks should not complain if local racing continues to go down the tubes - let them go ride abroad and see what the conditions are like

Perhaps the 5mm of rain was an excuse to cover up a secret and much bigger problem.

4Q has been plagued by excuses, cover-ups and secret back room shady deals for day 0.
Who is the "4Q Operations Team" that issued the press release? What maintenance and remedial work have they undertaken at the Vaal recently and more importantly, what aspect of this work was postponed or delayed due to financial or other challenges?
I understand that the COO of 4Q was recently preoccupied instituting disciplinary proceedings against 3 of his managers including a track manager for the initiating the procurement of a grader for one of the training tracks. The 3 managers were disciplined for not obtaining comparative quotes to replace the grader and also for not exercising their discretion to repair the old grader which the COO said would have been the cheaper option after this brain surgeon unilaterally signed off on the transaction. The irony of this freak show is that only the COO has the authority to sign-off and authorise the purchase of the grader that exceeded R1 million. The COO unilaterally signed off and authorised the transaction based on one quote received and without requesting the 3 managers to perform a comparative analysis whether replacing the grader is more economical that repairing. The COO, then proceeds to instruct the 3 managers to breach the contract with the supplier and start another unnecessary sh!t show that 4Q can ill-afford. The question as to why the COO was not disciplined by the board of directors of 4Q for his blatant disregard for company policies and his failure to discharge his fiduciary duties remains a mystery.
On the other hand, this might explain why the 5mm horse crap explanation does not hold water. We have a bunch of clowns at 4Q that are clueless in elementary matters. Understanding the maintenance aspects of a racetrack will be higher grade stuff for these halfwits.

How does one reconcile the excerpt from the stipes report and the 4Q's priceless press release?
The excerpt from the stipes report:
"AFTER THE RUNNING OF THIS RACE, JOCKEYS LODGED A PROTEST, THEIR CONCERNS BEING THAT THE SOFT UNDERFOOT CONDITIONS WERE INCONSISTENT AND UNSUITABLE FOR RACING.
A PANEL WAS FORMED IN TERMS OF RULE 5.2.3 AND AFTER HEARING ALL THE EVIDENCE FROM ALL CONCERNED PARTIES, A DECISION WAS TAKEN TO ABANDON THE REMAINDER OF THE MEETING IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF SAFETY FOR HORSES AND RIDERS"
And the excerpt from 4Q priceless masterpiece states the following jibber jabber:
"A track inspection was held and although a consensus could not be reached among the inspection committee, the jockeys were unanimous in their opinion that the surface was not suitable for racing.
A decision was therefore made to abandon the remainder of the card."
4Q's abductive arguments 101 aka BS.

I don't find the Press Release that strange - someone felt they had to include the part about 'consensus could not be reached' - obviously from their side the Stipes felt that they did not agree with the difference of opinion on the track's suitability for racing; hence I think we need to be told why precisely it was felt that ' UNDERFOOT CONDITIONS WERE INCONSISTENT AND UNSUITABLE FOR RACING'
But I agree with Mac that there may be more to this
