For 100k in JHB or 150k in the Western Cape

It's a no-brainer!

In my teens I can remember 2yo races in South Africa commencing in November and by end of the season some of them could have ran about 10 races. Maybe the prize money will tempt juvenile to make their debut's earlier.

I can remember a race, a Juvenile race at Clairwood Park, a normal Nursery for 2yo's just before or at the start of the KZN season. It was billed a race of champions and it did turn out that way as the 3 fancied runners and past the post ended up Grade 1 winners.

Igreja beat Royal Jest with Historic Lady third. Igreja and Historic Lady were fillies who took on colts and geldings. Good times.

Igreja - Cape Fillies Guineas

Royal Jest - Mercury Sprint

Historic Lady - Gold Medallion

When I read this thread. I just see a big red Markus Jooste signboard and the damage he and his cronies caused while running SA racing and Phumelela. Mary Slack has bought the industry some time to heal and hopefully the industry can drag in new monies from the newer younger management. Nothing wrong racing later in the season gives the 2 year olds bones time to grow and become stronger.

The aus$3m Magic Millions for 2yo used to be run even before we have had our first maiden 2yo race. (I see it’s fixture next year is early Jan).
