Massive claim is on the cards but who picks up this tab if successful 🤔

Unlike the USA, SA law caters for actual losses not potential losses.

The punters also won. Many punters won on the day. I, myself, won on the day.

If a judge had to review the Merchants I wonder what his opinion would be if Main Defender had run. I have mine.

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that following an incident on Saturday morning, 25 November 2023, and the uncooperative nature of the stable representative and persons present at the time at the stables of Trainer Mr Tony Peter at Turffontein Racecourse, the remaining horses that were carded to race following the running of Race 1 were withdrawn by the Stipendiary Stewards.  An immediate investigation was opened into this incident necessitating an interim suspension being placed on Trainer Tony Peter in terms of Rule 91.2.

As a result of the aforementioned, the preliminary investigation has been completed and consequently the interim suspension imposed on Trainer Tony Peter has been lifted forthwith.

An Inquiry has been opened into the matter and the NHA has also put certain safeguards in place to ensure the welfare of horses that are carded to participate in races, thereby maintaining the integrity of the industry.

The closest thing you'll find to an admission of guilt from the NHA.
To make reference to maintaining integrity of the industry after what occurred on Saturday is disingenuous though.

Heads need to roll.

Simple.

SA racing is in a state of change. we see Hollywood, Greg Bortz, Studio88, WSB, Betway all coming to the party. 4 Racing with Mary Slack investment has helped stave off what would have been a major disaster when P went into Business Rescue.

All these changes above should be seen as positive for racing, what has not changed is the NHRA and they way they operate.

In my opinion(we all have one) the NHRA entity has regressed under Moodley and Hyde and they should be replaced ASAP. The damage they caused on Saturday will be remembered for a very long time.

If the Peter yard is Guilty they need to be dealt with but not by dragging their reputation through the mud and then saying oops when u get it wrong.

Time for a change at NHRA needs to be demanded by all involved in racing

Nothing that happened on Saturday makes sense to me and there were various other options available, why choose the option that led to the runners being scratched at short notice?

I can think of a half dozen different options including visiting the yard the day before and should the need have arisen to scratch runners it could have been done 24hrs in advance.

These are strange times we are living in.

Don't let SA racing put you off punting. You not the first one who has stated they have had enough of this bullshit after this thread and the other one where started.
Play HK twice a week. You will get your zest back for horse racing. There is so much information and available. You can even check the trials the horses prepare with. Not those stupid ones we had here that where used for the trainers to put bookies off so they could get a good price first time out.Even podcasts from top class tipsters.
Everything is above board there,no doping,no instructions to jockeys to give the horse a easy ride to manipulate the MR,just straight out every horse running to merit and trying to win.You try cheat you gone no questions asked.
Results differ from time to time but you can be assured most times your horse comes to the races fit and you have top class jockeys riding them so you will get a run for your money.

Look at GVN...he got told to leave as he apparently raised his hand to his girlfriend at a jockey club function.
Do you think the jockey club there will accept the excuse of sorry I got the timing wrong with the treatment of my horse that is why prohibited substances where found in the specimens?
You knew the rules, you broke them now pack your bags.

And when it comes down to it, the same percentages of fancied runners win in Hong Kong as do in South Africa, FACT!
