Is the Vaal on it's last legs?

I'm reading in the Sporting Post that Barend Botes is leaving the Vaal for KZN, when I shared this with someone I received a reply that another two trainers are following him. and was sent some horse population stats.

17 years ago there were 1600 horses stabled at the Vaal and now there are 240 and soon to be less if the two trainers follow Barend to KZN

I know a few years ago it was rumoured to be shutting and used as a training centre... Not sure if that was shelved?

When they closed Kimberley they should have created a 2nd tier structure at Vaal for smaller yards and weaker horses. Race for less stakes etc If the Vaal closes will Turfontien be able to absorb extra meetings. Or will it just result long term in even less racing and less horses in Gauteng as we.. SA RACING has been run into the ground by previous corrupt or incompetent regimes. The new CEO Twinkles may have credentials but not much else. Bollywood and Hortz may get it right but the horse population numbers will be another 30% less than today by then. ICU/life support are all apt for describing SA Horse racing at present.

Twinkles🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Haibo, Twinkles does not have any credentials to make the shortlist to run Cape Racing. Why would anyone employ Twinkles to run the biggest operator in RSA?……… So u can control the chess pieces in the background

No cu*t obviously

When you have 4Q having different rules for the Vaal than for Turffontei n then you know who the cu*ts really are.

Update

From the horses mouth 👄

1: 220 horses left

2: Everyone moved into one section and other stables welded shut

3: 4 Racing only interested in grooms and nae one else

4: trainers and owners brushed off

Vaal trainer Kobus Roux was lucky to escape unharmed after he was held up at gunpoint at his stable on Tuesday evening.
