Princess Calla has gone to the States

PRINCESS CALLA HAS DEPARTED FOR THE USA
David Thiselton
Princess Calla is on her way to America, although she is still owned by Mario Ferreira.
She was on the same aeroplane as dual Hollywood Syndicate-owned Gr 1 winners Make It Snappy and Isivunguvungu.
The plane took off from Johannesburg yesterday.
Upon landing in the USA the horses will be required to stay in quarantine for two months.
Trainer Sean Tarry said about the six-year-old mare, "There is a lot of planning still to do. It wasn't a last minute decision, but I don't think there is a firm plan. She certainly has the option to race still. She took her run on Saturday very well and she's sound. In terms of breeding I am sure the world will be her oyster."
Tarry felt the five-time Gr 1-winning Flower Alley mare would have finished closer in the Gr 1 Wilgerbosdrift HF Oppenheimer Stakes over 1600m if the race had panned out like it did in her previous start in the Gr 1 City Of Cape Town Majorca Stakes over the same distance.
Nevertheless, she claimed another cheque to take her earnings in South Africa to R5,582,175.
In 28 runs she won 12 times and was placed 14 times meaning she only failed to place twice and in both of those runs she earned a cheque by running fifth.
Her 12 wins included five Gr 1s, four Gr 2s and two Gr 3s.
She was runner up in four Gr 1s, third in four Gr 1s and fourth in one Gr 1.
Princess Calla won for four different trainers, winning easily for Dennis Bosch on debut before moving to Adam Marcus, then Ashley Fortune and then Sean Tarry.
Aldo Domeyer was aboard for her first Gr 1 victory in the Empress Club Stakes, for which she was trained by Ashley Fortune, and the Sean Tarry/Richard Fourie partnership propelled her to all four of her other Gr 1 victories.

Hopefully it's for Breeding
Crazy to think she's only earned R5 million after winning 5 grade 1 races, that's just over $260k, which is way less than winning one Grade 1 overseas

.....wrong continent to find a sire to fire....should she perform in some top races there then worth selling and keeping the currency to then bring in a bag of mares to stand here....

Strange... I thought the opposite... With her American ped x a super star mare and being a superstar mare herself
Any decent foal will be seven figures($)

.....her tail line is all Ozzie and Kiwi....and her USA sire has already double Mr P.....and it would be hard to find a USA sire without multiples of more Mr P as imo too much Mr P devoid of any BR in the dam lines seems to not produce the goods....

There is an elite sale of fillies and broodmares just after the Breeders Cup weekend. This is where Queen Supreme got sold to Australia. Princess Calla will follow that route, I think.

Two-time Equus Award winner and South African Horse of the Year, Princess Calla, has officially been retired from racing and is now settling in at the Resolute Racing Farm in Kentucky.
The decision to retire the champion mare followed a thorough evaluation by the veterinary team, trainer Chad Brown, and the Resolute Racing staff. After careful consideration, the team agreed that transitioning Princess Calla to a broodmare career would be in her best interest.
