PeterD is right. 2 jockeys told me this am that they had seen the horse and he was lame.
The problem imo is that shenanigans have been going on in racing - so one can't blame the conspiracy theorists; rumors had been around that Without A Question would somehow be taken out for Hluhluwe to run - and I think it would have been worse if the connections just took Without A Question out with no explanation (as they would be entitled to do). Still it leaves a bad taste in my mouth (and I backed both A/P) - it adds to the 'controversy' of Double Superlative's last run - won by the stable mate - even though the stable claimed that they warned the public - imo a warning should have been forthcoming in the week leading up to the race - not only on race-day.

Imagine the outcry if Double Superlative manages to win the July - and he ran a similar 'prep' before the MET - he is a class horse and well weighted and would not need to be at his best to win tomorrow - even though the stable has been telling everyone that asked that he would need one more run

Last time I checked, a jockey was reliant on trainers to give them rides? A living?

No fuss here, same horse scratched from 2 Grade1s in a space 4 months,
The owner is shrewed in his calculations, sponsors the jockette as well and the Trainer said on panel big plans for the Summer Season.

On Another note, perhaps Mr C Eudey or anyone can assist.
Does ex jockey A Delpech hold the record of 4 winners a Durban July Meeting?
Might have been latter stages of Sponsors Rothmans or early Vodocom?
might have included a
winner for the late Trainer Mr N Bruss .

thanks

I'd be more worried about who watered the course

Won the July, Golden Slipper and Garden Province in 2004 ( Princess Sassi won the GP trained by Bruss), not sure if he rode anymore on the day to make it 4

thank you Flydubai
couldnt find answer online, just the July winners.

lots of jockeys have ridden doubles, but ADelpech was the champ.perhaps there might be an incentive to break that record!

To Bob. in the box seat this week featured the track manager, course sorted.
only bother if there's the 13 the race......NHRA has no control on humans featuring in a special race,as they can't take specimens for beverage or CO2 dilution.

enjoy
