.....no such luck.....the money boys have again simply thrown plenty moola at some okes with the best sales pitch.....history just repeating itself.....get used to plenty Scottsville racing for a good few months and some KZN boys looking for spare boxes in 4Q country as hard times ahead trying to find races in much fewer places....oh my

Hollywood should be looking at installing a poly track at Summerveldt and then return Greyville back to a turf track that can accommodate 18-20 horse fields in the 2026 main season. At least the investment at Summerveldt would be on a property that is owned by the company. Once the poly racing proves successful, install a grass track as a third option for KZN.

What is clearly needed is a proper cohesive program for Durban and CPT, i would include JHB, however they seem to be doing everything to compete rather than compliment. This cannot be more evident than the behaviour with channel 240, maybe they are still upset that only they should have benefited from the TV rights in years passed. It would make sense to further develop Gallop TV, the potential is limitless.

Muhtiman post=892146 userid=767......well it seems that even a major overhaul would not suffice and an entirely new system has been proposed as Bortz bandied  the word "tapeta" more than once in the recent interview so the major players have had a crack at making a proposal for their various solutions.....just hope they plan to thoroughly  separate the turf track with an adequate moisture barrier and sub surface retaining system as the turf suffered a water retention problem at the outset of the initial polytrack installation.....

.....caught half of the latest GC interview about the "new" polytrack and then poof.... loadshedding she strikes....so a bit relieved that Martin Collins is still on the job as the mumbo jumbo that Bortz as going on about had me thinking that they had got shafted....however the kiwi being interviewed is not as scientific in his explanation but get the gist of what they are trying to do.....the local MC man knows his stuff and may play a bigger role in maintaining the system so that it does not land up having to be ripped up again.....{to be continued after I get to see the rest of the show}

.....the show was not conclusive and seems a part 2 has been canned/postponed as the more recent down pour may have impacted operations that affect the turf too.....unsure

.....so not a new track nor a new surface at all......gonna be a bit of a Frankenstein affair......the old surface with all the fines,wax,mud and humus will be turned over and mixed with what appears to be scrap/recycled polymeric fiber and has a shaven fleece like appearance..... then a special "gel"  will be added to bind all of the old, new and some of that turf wash off all together.....oh boy

You must give these guys credit, they have a plan... Use the new surface (with improvements) for 3 years then they have plans for a new track

.....no one has proposed this as a temporary solution....so the word "new" now means "different" but actually is the same but now has a new component in "magical gel".....lets all hold thumbs that this is not only an expensive quick fix and will actually work for a longer period.....as we now seem to be in guinea pig territory....oh my

......so after all the spin.....a temporary fix.....Frankie ain't gonna be too pretty....there is a lot of muck in that substrate and there is a likelihood that it is going to be one of the 50 shades of greyville.....lol

Reading between the lines, GC did basically nothing for 13 years and HWB has at least sourced the best input, trusted in multiple countries. Whatever has been done is 100% more than what has happened for 13 years, credit where credit is due. I might not agree with the venue for the poly track, but what i can say is that HWB has been more proactive, more transparent and more communicative that what we have had.

 "The Polytrack at Hollywoodbets Greyville provides for the majority of races featured in KwaZulu-Natal. This track continues to provide a uniform racing surface throughout the year and ensures that very few race meetings in the province are cancelled due to inclement weather."
