Grant van Niekerk has a very carefree attitude towards everything by the looks of it judging by his post race interviews.
A lengthy spell on the sidelines where he earns nothing might change that. Let's hope the stipes do their jobs correctly and timeously with this one.

If he rides horse out past the line definitely has a better chance of winning surely?

2 months 3 weeks agoTigershark post=895501 userid=1816G v Niekerk shifts in bumping G King, he shifts in again bumping G King who in tern bumps One Stripe almost bringing horse and rider down. At this critical time in the race AOF SIX skips clear by 3. G v Niekerk shifted 3-4 lengths off a straight path not once correcting his mount.
Because One Stripe does not finish in the first 5 they can't object but I would think that the Stipes could object on behalf of G King.
You cannot be subjective and say that G King or One Stripe could not have beaten the winner because of the winning margin as the interference happened at a critical point in the race.
The result should have been changed to 6 - 7 - 3 - 8
.....I feel that Zackey should have after the 1st bump/brush also tried harder to switch out and try stay off One Stripe as Zackey then relaxes his rein when All Out for a Six brushes past causing Grey King to turn its head inwards at the second contact and cut One Stripe out of the race....at the very least Zackey should have objected...even though it would have been impossible to reverse the result...a bitter sweet result for me as I played to beat One Stripe and had the winner but needed Grey King to have been closer....

Scary part is, that it is the top riders in South Africa that can't keep their mounts straight............
Who remembers the Cape Guineas 2022.
Superman almost bumped Fourie over the rails.
Double Superlative on to Trip Of Fortune.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) At the 1200m ONE STRIPE (G Lerena) and ALL OUT FOR SIX (G van Niekerk) bumped on two occasions when ALL OUT FOR SIX (G van Niekerk), which over raced in the early stages, shifted in when awkwardly placed on the inside of the heels of COASTAL COMMANDER (G Wright).

2 months 3 weeks agoVee coming on air to talk about it now
....the stipes report ought to be interesting.....I reserve my comments until we see what they have to say....
.....could not help it and posted my comment before I saw the report.....and it reads that GVN had little to do with the 2nd bump/contact yet his mount continued to close in and intimidate Grey King who then made contact with One Stripe.....guess we should wait for the official inquiry....if there is going to be one.....

So The Grey King makes contact with One Stripe at the 150m mark without reason? Not because AOF SIX takes up it's running by rolling straight across off a straight line?
As I said in another post, when there are reports that contradict what you see first hand it cannot be good for the credibility of racing. The above report means that this type of interference will not have an impact on the result. While unfortunate, these are supposedly the rules, something I cannot agree with.

Dazza, I would agree with you that Fortune puts his hands down 2-3 strides before the post costing his mount the win. However, you need to take into account that some fairy dust hit him in the eye at that moment and ag shame. Let's give him chance number 423... after all, he waited 6 months to get another chance and deserves to stop riding before the line as he did last week.
