So many he can make his own low-light reel...I'm sure young appies are perhaps shown some of these rides for what not to do in a race

if Hollywoodbets stops funding, there is no racing
So true....just shows the state of SA racing.
We need a bookmakers firm to keep racing going otherwise it's over.
10% of our jockeys could maybe make the cut in other countries. What about the other 90%?What they gonna do?

That last paragraph strikes me as vindictive and petty ..... someone on this thread commented they want 'less racing' ...maybe they are right. I dont know... I still feel though and I will admit I am not close to the inner circle so my be very wrong.... but I feel the jockey 'strike' is symptom .... not the underlying cause.

The Magi, I agree with you however, they have an association that should have already engaged with the NHA regarding their grievances. I would even back them on certain issues regarding some of the current rules.
So far all I have heard about the CJA is that they threatened a strike for more money not too long ago and then yesterday conducting an illegal strike based on an emotional outburst.
All stakeholders need to engage with the NHA because ultimately we need the regulator or rather that a regulator is mandatory. The only way forward is having all stakeholders engage but certainly not what racing was subjected to yesterday.

For the season He was there SCMP wrote ...He shares the title of Hong Kong’s most-suspended jockey but Grant van Niekerk is looking to make amends for his on-track misdemeanours at Happy Valley on Wednesday night. The South African has felt the wrath of the stewards five times this season, matched only by apprentice Alfred Chan Ka Hei.
Obviously favouritism in Hong Kong as well.

It's his money and he can say what he wants, but that statement wouldn't be out place in the Oval Office these days. Arrogant and dictatorial. Again he fails to acknowledge the punter and belittles contributors who voice their opinion. Not condoning what the jocks did, but this threatening tone may well backfire on him. The jocks should boycott the Cape. Racing will still continue there, won't be hard to fill their small fields with appies and work riders.

So what happens when Hollywoodbets takes over KZN racing next week? These jockeys all going to race in PE and JHB after the only other operator has already committed to standing together?

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
The bit about if Holy wood stops funding refers....
Granted but does Holy Wood fund the Turnover Pools?
Not a single mention about the loyal client base, the Punter, the Patron, the Customer who ensures there is a Gross Pool to make the Turnover and ensure the 25% take out every single meeting.
Why not sell the pictures Overseas and let the Commingling partners make up the Pools.
The Racing public will take to other forms of wagering of which there are a few alternatives that are available.
Sports Betting, Lucky Numbers, Lotto, Virtual Racing, Greyhound Racing etc etc etc.
Sales of horses resulted in no local racing for a few days in March.
Sales of horses will also result in the loss of a few meetings in April also.
Jockeys lose money when they are given " Short time".
Rather cut your losses for the one meeting the strike affected and focus on ironing out the issues.
This can cause more Jockeys to look elsewhere for employment opportunities and result in a loss of enthusiasm amongst the youngsters who are thinking of becoming future Jockeys.

What makes you think this will spill over to Kzn. Why did he not mention this in his list of actions which were very Cape specific. He wouldn't dare. Hollywood have not issued a statement, it's just the minority partner who is speaking.
