ALAN GREEF

Congratulations to Alan Greef and his team as well as the owners. What he has managed to achieve this season must be something of a record or at least historical.

To have one of, DIRECT HIT, ANOTHERDANCEFORME or GOLDEN PALM would be like lightning striking. To have, have chosen, all three, train and program them to win all the feautures they have traveling from PE is mind blowing.

......look at the common denominator.....he did not choose these sorts....they were sent by people that know something about breeding....and have simply entrusted him to condition them.....if they click and be able to race like they are bred then Greeff can travel them... a patten he has honed over time.....and good horses make good trainers but good trainers are not as good without good horses

MDK got good because he was also sent the goods......wink

.....PE has been on the map for some time.....imo it is a bespoke training and racing facility with the best polytrack surface in the country....some top breeders have for some time have sent nicely bred race mares that battled in other training centers to PE to notch up better race form and possibly burgle a bit of black type before going to stud....in more recent times a shrewder breeding outfit has supported the centre with unraced juveniles to try and boost statistics of a particular resident sire that did not get enough local commercial support....some have caught the eye and also a few other juveniles owned and raced by that stud have also now got into the limelight.....

To win all the prestigious races for Juvenile fillies in CPT, JHB, DURBAN and PE is somewhat of a record that I don't believe it will be achieved again anytime soon.

Muhti, I think only Direct Hit would have been sent from the farm, the other two were bought at sales. You also need to factor in that they need to be conditioned correctly to perform at those levels. I just think that Greef has done the most unbelievable job.

Absolutely unbelievable training feat!!!  One for the record books.  He had the stock, but the choice of what runs where, and the execution of every win was absolute precision.

No excuses, no debating on preps, no flat runs to bring them on, no complaining about draws - Just nominate, accept, show up, and smash them!

Mr. Greef deserves all of the accolades!

....the other 2 are owned by a top ex Zimbabwean breeder who in more recent years has invested heavily in our local bloodstock he has partnered with a guy that knows how to find the good stuff and I was somewhat flummoxed that a fair amount were sent to PE to start their racing careers....could not fault Golden Palm on genetics and have followed that female line family most keenly...so investment in decent genetics is a bigger reward and has  a better strike rate than luck or coincidence.....

....nice sort this will go all the way to the top....full brother Valbonne is no star as may have been overly pampered when injured before sale....the breeder retains this filly as the bloodline is super strong....

Unbelievable feat by Alan Greef to win all the features in 4 different provinces and definitely deserves all the accolades.

A BIG factor in judging just how good these fillies were must have been Richard Fourie who sits on all the bombs around the various yards in the country .

Allen did pick both Moore fillies at the sales himself . Direct hit was send to him.

What he achieved with these 3 fillies this season is unbelievable. Brilliant planning and training achievement

Greeff Yard Two year old stats for the season

72 runners
25 winners 34.7 strike rate Fourie rode 23 of the winners and Andrew Fortune the other 2
13 different winners from 17 different runners. 76% winner ratio to runner
2 Grade 1s
2 Grade 2s
1 Grade 3
5 other minor features in PE.

Horses yet to win
Zambezi Sunset
Grey Warrior
Olive Oyl
Secret Choice

not to shabby. I would be happy as an owner and a breeder with his stats.
