Scotia on GOLD

A Quiet Local Day, but Eyes on Newbury 🇬🇧
With no local races today, Newbury takes centre stage overseas, and Miss Cartesian along with Golden Redemption look the best on the card.

Same Old Record 🎶
We could go on (again) about the damage the ANC has done — like a broken long-playing record — to just about everything it’s touched. 🥲

One issue that continues to baffle me is the mines.

South Africa has massive unemployment, yet tens of thousands of illegal miners are working in abandoned or inactive shafts. Surely, there's a huge opportunity here for someone to turn this into something positive for the country?

Where is the illegal gold going? Who’s really behind it all? These are questions that remain unanswered — yet again, another sad reflection of where we are.

Until Then… Good Punting! 💰🐎

And while it’s not exactly one of my favourite songs, it just feels right for the moment:
🎵

OK understandable not an easy solution?

Let's consider that Zuma and Cyril are dying to get there day in court.,...

Now we have 100s miners or Zama zama now within 24hrs they are all in front of a judge to either go to jail or get bail??.....

Funny old world or Judiciary system we have 😭

Not to mention the implications of putting more people into jail .....

......Gold remains one of the best ways to access foreign currency abroad and is by far the easiest to smuggle out of the country.... due to a relatively lower melting point and easy malleability it can be molded or fashioned into almost anything....and then coated with almost anything...back in the day you could visit any bank in Switzerland and ask to buy gold coins and they would take you to a drawer or small desk safe and you could pick from 70-80% Kruger Rand coins found there and the price was....that day's US$/oz +small bank commission.........today Dubai Thailand and Pakistan are the major unwrought gold destinations.....local immigrant traders both legal and illegal with links to smugglers send the unwrought gold they purchase locally to these destinations... which is converted into cash and then minus a commission for the smuggler....the cash is then sent to families of those working here.....we are a haven for the misbehaving.....gosh
