Place Betting

Hi all ,
what are your thoughts on:
I back a horse to finish in the first 4.
1 horse gets scratched and attracts a deduction.
And assume my horse wins, runs 2nd, or 3rd, why should my bet attract a deduction.
In my view the only horse that needs a deduction applied to , should be the 4th horse.
We have to assume that the scratched horse could only knock 1 horse out and would not affect the horses finishing 1st,2nd or 3rd.
one bookmaker that i know of, in the event of an 8 horse race, you take first 3 and 1 horse gets scratched , you must take the deduction and only qualify for first 2, if ever there is a liberty, this has to be it.
but if any bookmaker or authority please comment on the above rule.

I would say that the fixed odds on any horse 🐎 is poor value
many years ago 1/4 the odds were the norm
I am aware certain amount of runners plus if money on shots etc
The division formula we are using is not competitive and the tote is a lucky dip
It's like a box of chocolates 🍫

All bookies have the rules on their website (or should have)
the rule I know has only the following on fixed odds:
CARDED runners- 3 or less, no betting- 4 to 7, two places- 8 to 13, three plces, 14 or more, 4 places
the only proviso about scratchings is after scratchings, if there are 3 or less runners - no places
BUT they absolutely SCREW YOU WITH THE ODDS - it should be 20 to 25% better
just compare the % they bet to on the win market and the place market - the win market will be about 111% amd the place market 370 or more
place betting is a BEEG NO NO, unless they bet to the correct %
if you actually play places ask the bookie to at least give you a kiss - everybody likes to be kissed when they are getting #$@%ed

Hi Racing G
Dont be disapointed.Consider yrself a smart punter as your transaction was with a bookmaker.
With the tote you would have been a sad sore loser, prob drank the whole 750ml Whiskey on your own.
Please continue with the same bet type, cant have deductions all the time.
enjoy
