Jockey Grant Van Niekerk - why so few rides

Why is jockey Grant Van Niekerk not getting enough rides? Why are so few trainers supporting him? We know his background/ history/ controversy.  He is clearly a talented rider and amongst our better/ best in the country. Is it punishment/ grudges/ cold shoulder from trainers who once supported him? Surely they should welcome exchanges/ apologies/ conciliation/ move forward? Or is he not taking the initiative/ taking riding seriously/ not calling enough for rides?

I read he is going to ride in Mauritius at some stage.
There seems to be a negative vibe between him and the commentator in the western cape. Has lots to say about the jockey mid race.
Not a good look for the operators and the White and blue crowd.
