Good morning hope we are all back to normal after last weekends activities?
I cant believe we are in the final couple of furlongs to xmas, our next big day is the Julie Alexander Charity day, 13th of Dec. and I must again mention the generosity of the posters on the site.
You may be aware that "Charlie", based in London won the competition with some superb doubles and has asked his prize valued at R5,500 be auctioned on the site and donated to the kids on this special day, in addition a few punters are donating money directly into the Havens account, and we thank you so much for the contributions.
If I consider that Brian twice and Mori also gave their winning prizes to the KZN Horsecare unit, I am sure all you punters enter the competitions for the glory and you are all great guys and girls with big hearts.
I am also delighted by the content of the posts over the last few months and the excellent sense of humour that has prevailed on the captions and other articles.
An email came in the other day to ask about my love for certain favs and was asked if I believe in certainties?
The best reply I can give is by quoting a few examples from the latest Betfair for Dummies book.
Rather amazing stories than certainties but remember on an exchange when you have a 1000/1 winner or a 1.01 loser, someone is matching your bet.
In a jump meeting the fav. Family Business fell early in the race and was traded at 1000/1 (max) during the race the other 5 horses fell and the horse had been remounted and came home to win.
The last horse to fall traded at 1.01. I am sure McCoy rode the winner?
Cheltenham Gold Cup Kicking King was injured and reported might not race again and odds of 1000/1 were on offer, the horse won as a warm favourite.
Milan vs Sampdoria, Inter were 2-0 down in the 88th minute and 1000/1 was on offer for them to win!
You guest it, they won 3-2.
Newcastle managers market, note these markets are always volatile with many rumours. but Souness was 1000/1 plus 7 different favourites were named.
Breeders Cup finish, 250,000 GBP were traded on the outcome of the photo between High Chaparral and Johar a dead heat was declared.
Snooker, Peter Ebdon was leading 5-1 against Jimmy White and a punter took a chance and lost 14,000 GBP to potentially win 140 GBP, when White came back to win 6-5.
AC Milan were leading Liverpool 3-0 at half time and the Pool were on offer at 100/1 for a draw and 250/1 to win the trophy, the Pool won on penalties.
Stewards enquiry, a punter lost 10,000 to win only 18 when a result stood!
Portugal vs Cameroon, Cameroon losing 5-0 at half time, came back for a draw for a lucky punter taking 550/1.
Greyhounds a "punter"? (the dog Escholido is owned by Harry Findlay) A "million pounds"
was requested on heat 21 in the 2004 Derby, only 192,000 was matched and the dog came home lonely. The "anonymous" punter is still at large?
Would also like to hear your certainty or hard luck stories on the site.
Clan Classique was to run on Thursday, but was a reserve, so we hope to run her on the 11th, plenty horses, but not enough races, very frustrating, especially for new owners in the game.
Look forward to the INTERBET/ABC sponsored race at the Julie Alexander Charity race day on the 13th Dec. try and make it to track and enjoy the new facilities.
We have a new Hollywood/bucks competition on Monday and I hope the ABC team can rise to the occasion against the experts, this could be the last one before xmas as scotia also needs a break.
No racing for me on Sat. we are going to see Rod Stewart, any nice places to eat before the concert? I mentioned the Furious room, but it got a negative reaction.
Good punting!
