100% Sylvester - I was commenting on this very fact to my wife today. Food price increases continually blamed on rising costs of fuel but when fuel drops zero happens. The clever boys come up with bullshit reasons why the price of food continues to climb.

I heard some economist on the radio bullshiting a few mornings ago why rising food costs on are not directly linked to fuel price yet 6 months ago the same person linked it to fuel price.

It's a joke and its the poor that suffer the most.

Economists are in my opinion lower life forms than lawyers. What they get paid for I do not know. As regards the major retailers ripping people off, that is simply not true when it comes to staple items.... Shoprite have had their best year ever as far as margin goes...and that was LESS than 4.5%.... and they had NO mark up on many basic items...go read their financial statements for year end.... it is on the website. They basically gave up R256 million potential profit to try and keep prices down... yes, granted they did that to get more feet in the store.. and to gain market share... but the bottom line is that they are not the ones stiffing us...

Its the same the world over. 5 months ago when oil was 147 a barrel we were paying 119p at the pumps now its 40 a barrel and we are paying 88p and their excuse is that the pound has lost value. Oil companies are in cahoots with the Government. Blooby Brown has no balls to instruct the oil companies to reduce their prices because he takes 51p for every litre in tax and off course the VAT as well.
