Brent, I cant wait, love the doggies, a bit cheaper to own, its a great evening sport, does anyone have floodlights?
In addition I have written to the authorities on numerous occasions to use dog racing in place of the racing they cramp in between our local cards.
Reasons, they run on time, race is over in seconds, have proper form, etc.
Its a lot easier to insert a dog race than a trip to Ngong, if we are to continue looking to increase tote turnover.

Couldn't agree more Dave it's great fun and a night at the greyhound track with some mates is always a good night out, a race every 15 minutes keeps the action going all the time!
But - i'm a bit concerned about the welfare structure in SA for greyhounds and what will be in place for a dog post-racing career, control of breeding and a few other matters which i think need serious up-front consideration before it should be even considered for approval.

Morning Alan, are you suggesting we would eat them? This is SA, not China, however I am sometimes wary, when I have the odd take away!

This is a strange country Hibby, we are unique in many ways.
I feel greyhound racing could work, I have seen the plans for a trotting track, c/w greyhound track, and its planned.
I consider it a cheaper option for the masses to be involved in ownership, we are all (the planet) in a state of depression at this time, but considering the next up swing and the 2010 euphoria its the place to try new ventures and outlets and I feel if it is marketed correctly could be a winner?
But I have had a few 5/10 failures in my time!

lol Dave. no i don't think the there will be any new burgers on the Steers menu with introduction of Greyround racing! I just know that in the UK there a lots of charity and non-profit organisations set up to help give greyhounds a good home and life after their racing career has ended. My concern is would there be the same level of support in SA? I'm not sure, the poor SPCA in SA have struggled for years on minimal funding and not sure they're positioned to take on an additional problem if it did become 1?
Also greyhounds are actually quite a lazy and timid breed away from the track, whereas in SA it's more common to have a pet which can be both a companion and guard dog. But at least the greyhound would out-run any would-be burglars!

More reliable, no jockey on the back, its more frequent, its a fun "night" especially if you win and a cheaper entry for potential owners.

lol Dave your trainer must have been giving your dogs a kilo of sausages just before the race.
But yes it's a top night out, been to Wimbledon dogs plenty last few years, great buzz there on Friday nights especially in summer.
