PRESS RELEASE BY CHARLES S. LAIRD
On Friday 29th May 2009, I , Charles Laird was advised by the Jockey Club that my horse “Anaboo”, had been tested positive for an illegal substance in his blood. In explanation I enclose below a letter from Fourways Equine Clinic.
I would like to say, that in terms of the Jockey Club rules, my liability on respect of this type of offense, is one of strict liability. In other words, I cannot avoid the positive finding, and/or my liability.
Fourways Veterinary Clinic have accepted full responsibility for this error, but my reputation has been tarnished, my client’s stake monies forfeited, the horse will be disqualified.
