Earl Of Surrey (Century Stand) rewarded his Charity Turf Challenge supporters with 25 bonus points and a step nearer the grand prize worth R100 000!



The Geoff Woodruff-trained gelding recorded in impressive win in the Gr.1 Golden Horse Casino Sprint at the picturesque Scottsville Racecourse on Saturday and in so doing saw Kuben Naidoo wrest the top spot on the Leader Board from previous leader, Michael Gramanie. Naidoo leads with 87 points, 10 clear of Gramanie.



Other earners on the day were Gaultier (Jallad) who secured 10 points for his third behind Earl Of Surrey, while Lady Windermere (Western Winter) garnered 15 points for her supporters when victorious in the Gr.1 SA Fillies Sprint. Merlene De Lago’s (Encosta De Lago) second place delivered an important 12 points for her followers.



The only other point scorer on the day was the impressive two year old gelding, Villandry (Var), whose victory in the Gr.1 Gold Reef Resorts Medallion earned 5 points for those entrants who had selected him.



Tellytrack presenter, Deez Dyanand, drew “Team 100 Grand”’s name out of the hat on Saturday afternoon and they walk away with a camera kindly donated by Canon. Chad Cooke will contact the winning team to arrange for the collection of the prize.

No qualifiers are running midweek, but this weekend’s big race bonanza at Greyville Racecourse includes a number of popular Charity Turf Challenge horses in action. This popular meeting features the R1 million Gr.1 Daily News 2000 and R500 000 Gr.1 Woolavington 2000 as well as the Gr.3 Londsdale Stirrup Cup to be run over 2400m. A full list of qualifiers will appear on Wednesday.
