South African Racing and Betfair as ONE?
15 years 11 months ago
Betfair Customer Services 26 Jun 18:51
We have been reviewing our South African racing product and as a result we will be making changes which we hope will enhance the product offering.
They are as follows:
• We will be adding tote markets on South African racing from early July. This will enable customers to bet into the local pools hosted in South Africa.
• In about a month’s time we will be adding live streaming of South African racing to Betfair, which will cover all South African meetings.
• We will also add relevant form content for use by our customers.
Please also note that, from the end of June, we will stop offering South African races in-play, due to an apparent lack of general interest.
We welcome all customer feedback on our South African racing product and will keep our offering under review.

How is it that they can offer South African markets to their European customer base, but we as South Africans are not permitted to use it?

After some positive customer feedback we have decided to also add place markets for South African Racing, from Saturday 11th July. Place terms will be determined as follows;
• 3-7 runner race - TWO to be placed
• 8-15 runner race - THREE to be placed
• 16 or more runner race (Hcap AND non-Hcap) - FOUR to be placed

Oh, and just a reminder, the last thread about Betfair was closed with this post by Scotia:
Interesting debate gents, however Betfair is illegal in S.A. and to encourage debate is not viewed lightly by SA regulators.
We have received communication to this effect.
We have no choice but to close this thread to further debate.

Hypocritical in the extreme it would seem?
Scotia,Sabre's post has no date and I cannot recall this thread, it must have been a while back. Could you confirm what the sequence of events were leading you to close the thread and when this happened please.
Then could we ask Magaret to please ask for some kind of clarity as to where we all stand with Betfair. Also interesting would be to see what BF contribute and where the money will go.
If I was a bookie and in particular Interbet I should be very concerned.
Thank you
