When you first started punting did you start off betting small amounts or did you just climb in,and do you only bet with your winnings.

I started in 1981..
1st day on a race course..
Turfontein saturday meeting..
lost for words...
came from a small mining village - East Driefontein..no TV...did not know places like this existed..
played R1 jackpot...4 x 2 x 5 x 3
Kingly 50/1 beat Zatopek 4/10 in the 3rd leg..
caught the jackpot twice...R3200 x 2..an entire years salary..

watched the bookmakers operate from 1981 to 1983..
1984 held a lunch at a 5 star restaurant in braamfontein..
invited the top jock's at the time..
explained the rules...
we agreed..
started punting R300k per week..
win R300k some weeks......loose R300K some weeks..
Allen Levin Bookmaker did most of my commissions...

Outschemed ourself's...
PE double P6 carry over...Us...flew down..stupid..paid the jock's..did not include the appies in the main race at 33/1...
lost R40k...the day...nett result...double P6 carry over

outschemed many a bookmaker..
became crooked as they come..
paid...fixed races..
disgrace..sad story...
took 2 identical P6's..always banker a 10/1in the 8th race..field in the 9th
by the 8th race, take the 1 P6 to the jockey room..
Last time I did it.. Vaal..Smiley Moosa...and under a vigirous ride from...
I gave them the ticket.. the horse was 10/1 at the time..by the time I got to the bookmakers...the horse was 5/2....dof..we have the field in the last..they win with the fav..
lost all self respect..
1 st horse that ran for me...danger bay...40/1...backed it day in our drunken state to 12/1...caught Jackpots x 50...Pick6 x 2...won + R500K..
stopped 1991..
sold all the horses (11) for R3500.00...all the money the trainer had in his pocket.....


bored by 2000...
started P6 bets again..
slowly ....slowly...
bought bookmakers license for R5K in 2004..still think they are only worth R5K..
started taking quartets..trifecta's...
soon you realise that you are doing R30k a day..R1M per month..
percentage business...win or loose 10% of turnover..
we in month 8 of this year...
have paid my bookie earlier this year R250K...
have turned over +R7m for the year..
down R250K...must have played R7M and lost R250K and won R6.75K..

profit last year...+R3m..
I start winning from this time of the year till dec..
last year my run started 2 October..1 ticket P6..R800K..won R2.2m from 2 october till 15 dec...


I dont play with cash..dont have cash on me..
Have a family trust account..no signing power...all for the son..14 years of age..
have many business accounts..have no signing power....
have people paying my bills..
the car is full of petrol..
I eat at the coffee shop..someone settles the bill each month..
I eat at the bookie..he adds it to the account..
have not seen an account in months..
last time....I owed R356K...paid him R250K...
have a savings account..about R212.00 in the account..don't know where the card is..

DONT TAKE WIN or PLACE BETS...

P6, JACKPOT x 100 times, PA X 20-200 times, QUARTETS X 10-100times, trifectas 40 to 100 times..

When I have a bad day...I do R30K..
average day..break square...
good days...then I !@#$%^&*()_ them...

I would never ever dream of spending that kind of money for one simple reason. I a'nt got it to spend.

I merely roll the money over..
Its not my money..
It's the 4% the TAB pays the bookmaker...
It's not the bookmakers money either..
It's fictitious money...money thats invented by the way the system works..


The more I play..the more the tote 4% becomes...ie, R40K on my R1M per month..
If you roll it over..it works..as long as you win some PA's, P6's, Jackpots, Quartets, Trifectas during the month..

the bookmaker wins...he get R40K from the tote pm because I play..
The tote wins..their share price goes up...because I play and turnover goes up..
I win over a 12 month window...because I play..


This is the future way of doing business..

Is this not how most financial Instruments work..

have $4000 in the bank..
My broker is geared 40/1...
he issues a BG on my behalf for 40 x $4000 to someone in the UK..
The UK now has a BG for $160,000..
their broker is geared 20/1..
he issues a BG for 20 x $160,000 to the USA..

the USA bank now has a BG for $3,200,000.00
They issue a BG to some broker geared at 20/1 for $64,000,000.
The broker sells it as a MTN via Freddie Mac to one of our local Insurance/Pension funds at 80+1....on a 12 month coupon...ie 81% of the $64,000,000...$51,840,000..

Our local Pension fund is seen as the exit buyer..
they transfer the $51,840,000 to the USA..
our pension Funds is going to recieve $64,000,000 in 12 months....


Pension fund are know as EXIT buyers...

at least my system is backed by a Guarantee from attorney attached to a property..

I don't doubt your system Andre and understand it completely .

I have perhaps 20 failed ventures in life...
some costing me R1M...some only R50K...
had 3 failed ventures last year...R600K, R650, R555K..
also had 3 profitable ventures last year...

Motto...Give it my best...
some you win...some you loose..
have always stayed sane..never been a "all-in" poker man..
don't enyoy casino's....will play 1 cent machine if I have to play..
Take most people/all people in my stride..
dont loose my temper...no need to...it takes time to find it again..

think the trick is to stay humble..
admit your mistakes...its history..cant change history..
be present...see opertunities...calculate...take the risk..

I think I wasted some valuable time reading this thread.

Tell me Andre, are you the bloke at the Bullring, Rasputine lookalike, that normally sits near Phillip and Spannie (bless his soul) and Botterbill???
