when a fancied runner is scratched you are meant to give the pun ters a chance to retake their bets as with the case of purple lake being scratched. HOWEVER WHEN FLYing tristam was scratched at the vaal 10 days ago at the start and then yday resplendant guy they just loaded and raced straight away..try be consistent for a change

I think if the whole of a large field is loaded and/or it is a particularly troublesome field they will start the race ASAP. It is discretionary based on the circumstances.

This issue is a Phumelela/Gold Circle one. They know that their hold on these races is decimated when this happens but their excuse is they have to race to the agreed times for the overseas market, when it was pointed out to them that in england sometimes races go off 10 minutes later than normal time they agreed to hold back the races for the punters sake because the punters are the key to the stake pools, but they refuse to appoint a race time co ordinator over weekends when you have clashes locally with mauritius, kenilworth and turfontein all trying to load virtually together.I hope one day Betting World their bookmaking arm does R20 million when 3 venues jump together and they cant cover their book liability.

Perhaps SAB Miller could teach someguys a lesson - They never ever neglected the local brand that made them the cash to expand(Castle) They have a host of international brands in their stable but the don't try to force the crap that they only bottle under licence onto drinkers at the expense of the local beer. I'm sure if they could get the whole country drinking Castle they'd be happy rather than punting imports. Look after home fires boys before you come home one day and find your wife has moved next door because you were more worried about conquests across the seas(MR Mbeki is a prime example - carry on neglecting the small punters if you dare - they will, and have already voted with their feet through years of bad service - before someone tries to defend with turnovers etc pls look at the "full racecourses" and packed TABs - Bruma with its 10 patrons etc) Someone once put foward the idea that a special pensioners day should be held at the races? Why? The vast majority of punters that I SEE (not from some survey that is a fabrication) are very close to pension anyway- ie your Customers are dying and not from AIDS as is often put foward as a reason for the lack of punters - the rest are being killed by bad service and too much racing.

Mr H,SAB have provided some great examples of good management and strategies over the years....I would love the directors and managers at P to heed Meyer Khans famous words...shit rolls downhill!
