Tyson will have another crack at the jumps...

Paul Beck, based in the UK, owns a share of former SA star Tyson, who won the Summer Cup for trainer Stuart Pettigrew and then won in Dubai for Mike de Kock. Thus week he wrote a letter to Mike about the former champion, the edited version below:
Dear Mike,
I am lucky enough to own part of Tyson (SAF). I paid decent money for a percentage in the horse and have looked after him before and after he got a leg (injury) at Aintree in 2007 April nearly 2 years ago.
Against my better judgement as he was not the best of patients (bossing his field ) we brought him steadily into training in Sept 2009 with a little known trainer George Baker whom I think a lot about.
He spent much time and effort scanning Tyson before we made the decision to try for one last time. He (will be) off to Wolverhampton for a racecourse gallop tomorrow morning (20 January) and may line up at Cheltenham in March.
I have no targets for the horse but he does love his work and he looks superb after visiting him last week. If he says “no” he will retire to us at home as my family love him…..we have looked after him and will always look after him.
I believe he needs 3 miles over hurdles as he has little respect for fences.
Guess reason for the e-mail is that Tyson is no doubt obviously very special to you and at 10 still loves his life so hopefully will come out soon…..he has only a few races before his retirement but you never know.
He is a proud horse and deserves so much respect…..I have 14 at home retired so if anyone extra special loves him please let me know as after his last hurrah he needs a home…..no problem as I will look after him.
Mike, I hope to meet you one day but if not Tyson will always be looked after, he loves his hay, has many friends and deserves his retirement.
Best

Mike answers: Thank you very much for the good news Paul. Yes, he is lovely horse and thank you and your family for loving him. I am sure his previous owners will appreciate the news too and I will pass it on.

this is great and will definitely keep an eye out for him now, hope he makes it back to track. I backed him a few years ago at Aintree and if i recall he was in front approaching last hurdle but hit it awkwardly and ran 4th or 5th.

Whats in a name?
I see the 20th iteration of Tyson since 1988 ,runs in Grade One Saratoga Gold Cup 2 sept 2023.
Currently we have 5 Tysons running around the world of racing.
very popular name
