Billy the kid Teenage jockey  Billy Loughnane  teamed up with veteran middle-distance star  Rebel's Romance  to record the first Group 1 success of his meteoric career in Germany on Sunday.The 2023 champion apprentice came in for the mount in the Westminster 135th Grosser Preis von Berlin at Hoppegarten as Godolphin's number one jockey William Buick was due to be riding at Deauville, only for Shadow Of Light to be declared a late non-runner.Loughnane, who had his first ride nearly two years after Rebel's Romance had his first race, took full advantage of the opportunity.

USS Charleston will be far too good for the rest of them in the Beverley opener Good draw although I still prefer draws 1/2/3 over the five at Beverley

British racing's  unprecedented one-day strike next month  to highlight the catastrophic damage harmonising online betting tax rates would inflict on the sport has received widespread support.John Gosden and Sir Mark Prescott were among a number of leading trainers to express their backing for the strike action, first reported on Saturday night, with Gosden hopeful it would help the government to "recognise that we exist", while also warning that any increase to the tax rate paid on horserace betting would "kill communities". An agreement between the BHA, Jockey Club and Arena Racing Company has resulted in the first voluntary blackout in British racing's modern history, with none of the four meetings scheduled on Wednesday, September 10 now taking place
