In Race 4 at Ascot, young Phoebe Edwards having only her 17th ride gets to go up against legends of the game like William Buick, Rossa Ryan and James Doyle. My money would be on her finishing stone last as she has done on 75% of her rides so far.  But nice to see another jockette

Some good racing today and my purse will be on Ascot (and a few pennies at York).... Some real outsiders of interest for me are the following ... on which I placed a Fixed Place Yankee.

Slip type:Yankee System (11 bets)
Status:Confirmed
Horses: GB York R2
Place ROCK OPERA

3.16
-
active
Horses: GB Ascot R4
Place TWO TRIBES

3.75
-
active
Horses: GB York R4
Place LOOKING FOR LYNDA

3.08
-
active
Horses: GB Ascot R5
Place MYTHICAL GUEST
2.40

-
active

Unfortunately Mythical Guest has already been smashed in from 25/1 to 12/1.

In the main race I was going to banker Calandragan in everything but watching a few f his runs I am not convinced. Trainer has a 38% win strike rate at Ascot and has only the one runner on the day. Respect.
Robert Havlin has only one ride on the day Kuredo King and that has also shortened in the betting so goes into doubles and multiples.
William Haggas also has a 38% win rate at Ascot ...  his three runners must be respected so will all go into the P/A. Place accumulator to follow...

I have engagements now so did a quick P/A based on statistics and some form in case I not back in time to do a form P/A.

SPB PA Race 2 1,3,7,10/3,4,8/1,2,5,7,9,18,21/1,13,16/1/2,3,6/1,3,5,13  ... took it for 5% only as the 2nd leg and the 4th leg are 'wobbly'

Enjoy the racing and break a leg !!

Glorious Goodwood probably second best flat meeting of the summer after Ascot with 5 days of high class racing.

Very sad news RIP 🙏 Hollie Doyle described  Trueshan  as a "special, special horse" who gave her some of her best memories after he suffered a fatal injury in the Goodwood Cup. It was the popular campaigner's 35th start and fourth run in the Goodwood Cup when he was pulled up after sustaining an injury six furlongs out. The stayer enjoyed one of his finest moments when winning the race in 2021 and struck in two more Group 1 races when landing the Prix du Cadran later that year and again in 2023.

Terrible news. He was a crowd favourite RIP Trueshan.

Day 2 sees the new kid on the block Field of Gold take on older rivals for the 1st time in his career in the Sussex Stakes. Not worth a bet at the odds but looking forward to watching as there are some hard knocking horses in here
