KING GEORGE and QUEEN ELIZABETH Stakes

Good morning

I am aware we have the UK daily racing thread but there are certain races and meetings that deserve a special mention.

At Ascot on Saturday we have one of these special races and I had no doubt that Desert Crown was going to be my selection before a small injury concern..

Looking at this year's race

Westover 15/10
Emily Upjohn 28/10
Mishriff 7/2
Torquator Tasso 14/1
Pyledriver and Broome 25/1

Above are the very best prices.

I am normally a favourite punter and Westover does look hard to beat.
Emily Upjohn/Gosden and Frankie should have won the Oaks and the result hurt me with the last leg on a nice ATC .
Using a line of form through Tuesday, Emily can't beat Westover.
Mishriff is the real deal and has won over £11M in prize money and was unlucky to get beat last time.
Broom runs for Obrien and Ryan Moore, won a superb race over the course and distance last time out.

I would normally take a win bet on Westover but there are a few variables in this race and my bet will be ew on BROOME

We also have Glorious Goodwood to look forward to next week and the highlight should be the Cup race ( no disrespect to BAAEED)
Kyprious vs Stradivarius where Atzeni replaces Dettori.
However after the heat we might get some rain so a warning or speculation that a wee punt on TRUESHAN at 8/1 ish might be worth a consideration.

King George memories with some REAL champs over the years.

On the same day in the night is the Haskell in USA at Monmouth Park.

The undefeated Jack Christopher runs. Also Taiba, the Santa Anita Derby winner and White Abarrio, the Florida Derby winner.

Its going to be a mouth watering affair.

I am in the Jack Christopher corner.

Pretty hard to stream Monmouth Park. Hopefully I can find one.

Westover only gives Emily Upjohn 3lb .On what he's shown she looks held but we still have to see the best of her.Rest all giving away too much weight.]

Corebus receives handy weight pul from Baaeedl. He will makea race of it.

TAB4RACING MEDIA RELEASE
SUBJECT: World Pools on King George VI meeting at Ascot DATE: 21 July 2022
RELEASED BY: 4Racing
TAB horseracing customers get another opportunity to bet their maximum without significantly reducing payouts on the King George VI race meeting at Ascot this Saturday.
The seven-event card is headlined by the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes, a 2400m Group 1 event that has long been the midsummer highlight of the British horseracing calendar.
TAB will offer its normal range of international bets on the meeting and all Win, Place, Swinger and Quinella bets will be commingled into the UK Tote, which in turn will commingle into the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s massive World Pools.
Six runners have been declared for the King George with three-year-old Westover set to start hot favourite on the strength of a third in the Epsom Derby, in which he would have been much closer with a clear run, followed by a runaway victory in the Irish Derby.
TAB betting details for Saturday’s Ascot meeting are below.
ALL RACES: Commingled Win, Place, Swinger, Quinella (FIRST, SECOND any order); SA POOLS: Exacta, Trifecta, Quartet AND Place Accumulator (Races 1-7), Jackpot (Races 4-7).
NOTE: All bets R1 unit; minimum bet R6 except SWINGER, QUINELLA minimum bet R2. EACHWAY bet of R3 Win and R3 Place, as well as 3-horse EXACTA or TRIFECTA Box or 4-horse SWINGER Box for R6 total cost can be taken. If more than 30 carded, TAB operates SA pools on race and SA rules apply. All runners numbered 30 and higher are bracketed as Number 30, which can only qualify once for dividend purposes.
PLEASE NOTE: Win, Place, Swinger, Quinella commingled by UK Tote into Hong Kong Jockey Club World Pools. HKJC rules will apply. HKJC PLACE Rules: Less than 4 runners no Place betting; 4-6 declared runners payouts FIRST, SECOND; 7 to 20 declared runners payouts FIRST, SECOND, THIRD; 21 or more declared runners payouts FIRST, SECOND, THIRD, FOURTH.

That's what you call a result for "Durbs" although both first and second are Group 1 winners and one being the Arc winner. Well done Pyledriver.

Its going to be an interesting build up to the Arc.

I must say I did have a strange feeling about this year's race and not a total surprise.
Well done to the winner.
