Princess Calla Africa’s 2023 Horse of the Year, has been withdrawn from the Breeders' Cup due to severe bleeding issues.

Resolute Racing confirmed the unfortunate news. “She’s not running. The bleeding is too serious, and we are currently assessing her condition.”

When asked about her future and the possibility of retirement, Stewart added, “Maybe, but she’s in excellent condition otherwise.”

With respect to her epistaxis, "Yes 2/5 with lasix in her last race. But it was really stressful for her because side she didn’t have her ear muffs in and there was a starter in the gate with her. So we have her in Kentucky evaluating her,"

......interesting the way this bleeding issue is worded here....did she have these issues here.....was she ever treated with Lasix before.....has the introduction to Lasix now contributed to her bleeding condition....one has to wonder about Lasix being the so called silver bullet to prevent/cure epistaxis.....oh my
