South Africa got two new cricket coaches.
Red ball - Shukri Conrad
White ball - Rob Walter
According to reports Brevis will be fast tracked to play all three formats. Brevis has not played first class cricket.

du Plooy looks a stylish batsman He is 28 and has a first class average over over 43. Should be given a go in the SA test team

He did well yesterday but I think, sadly, selectors will see impact on demographics before deciding on who to have in the team...

Espncricinfo states that he is of England nationality now.
Rabada and most of the time Ngidi makes the final 11 of the Teat side so quota is not a problem for our batters to get a game. Rickleton should get a run. Verreynne looked good in Australia. Keegan Petersen looks good. Van Dussen, you would have imagined to be a good test player but not living up to it. Janneman Malan deserves a test run.
Quota should not be implemented in any sports South Africa play in.

@naresh...while I agree with your last line, reality is that it is a part of how our teams are compiled...how does Zondo, with a first class average in the low 30's, get into the team but for demographics?
There is a push to have those of African descent in the batting ranks (one of the reasons Bavuma has not been dropped despite only 1 hundred and about 20 fifties and an average of about mid 30's) (bowling hasn't been a problem as there are many performing at franchise level albeit weak so the step up to Test is great) and the quotas at franchise level indicate this but the results are still not there...so, a player like Zondo gets in because he is the best of African descent from really mediocre performances...
They are by far not the only under-performers...Elgar wants to be somewhere else (he has run his race) , van der Dussen better at ODI than Test / FC...
I'm focusing on the batting because that is where we are terribly weak and the above 4 are the main weaknesses...and it puts pressure on the bowlers...
If you cannot average 45+ in FC level, you have no place in Test cricket and I think only Verrynne is in that territory so the others need to go back and improve before EARNING a place in the team...

Sensational knock by Marco Jansen, 66 off 27, to get Sunrises Eastern Cape over the line against Mumbai Indians Cape Town.

Some world class catching in this tournament so far. Jacks yesterday and Neesham today for the Pretoria side. It’s an extremely competitive comp and at this stage every team are still in it and anyone can win it, well maybe not the Johannesburg team

@cnc...the one handed catch on the boundary at the Wanderers was so casual yet brilliant...

Catches do win matches
Pretoria opener Mendes got dropped with the 1st ball of the match then his partner Jacks got dropped on 1. I wonder how many will they now put on

What a fight bsck by the Proteas against England in the first ODI.
England was 146/0 after 19 overs chasing 299, got bowled out for 271.
It was a vital win as it will make direct qualification for the World Cup within reach.

@naresh...agree...very good fightback to win...some kick left in the dying donkey...
Need to win 2 of remaining 4 ODIs left to get 8th spot...2 matches against Netherlands after this series...

Good comeback win that. Roy batted like his old self so SA must try and get him early tomorrow as he is the type of player that will follow up with another big score. Nortje is one heck of a bowler.
