I thought we did well today only to lose 1 wicket. (Tomorrow is going to be the hottest day of the test match, and the English bowlers will be tired) 30 overs with the old ball still to e before the new one comes also plays into our hands as we can start again and be in by the time the new ball is available.
Good to see our boys back to scoring some runs, and the English might be worried they going to feel the backlash...

Not even thinking of trying to win this match as that wont happen as the pitch is far too good and our attack to poor to bowl them out. Get the draw, prepare a green mumba at the Wanderers get Steyn and Philander or Viljoen in and win the toss. England all out before lunch game over before the end of the 2nd day  . Pack up and move on to Centurian for the decider.

Looks like Duminy will be back in for next test (as our front line spinner). Piedt out, and 4 seemers to start. Bavuma would then also need to miss out, for the extra seemer.... Unless Van Zyl misses out, and Bavuma moves to the top of the line up.

Re: Cricket season
9 years 5 months agoNo chance of a green mamba at the Wanderers, the Poms bowling attack is performing far better than SA's including Steyn Philander etc. They're a very well drilled, disciplined bowling attack.chicken n chips wrote: Not even thinking of trying to win this match as that wont happen as the pitch is far too good and our attack to poor to bowl them out. think that Van Zyl has been unlucky. He misjudged that one in the first inning in Durban then in the second inning he batted pretty well and now his run out was a bit unfortunate. He will come good and the Wanderers will be his turning point. Lets see what Bavuma does with the bat. We will need a short leg at the Wanderers and he seems pretty good there. Piedt needs to play provincial cricket for the rest of the season. He will only get better and unfortunately for him he came up against a freakish knock by Stokes which must have been damaging to his confidence. If he had taken a couple of wickets then it would not have been so bad for him. He will take plenty of test wickets in time to come.
Looks like AB, Amla and Du Plessis have some confidence back. They will love batting on the Highveld.

Fantastic thanks bud, happy new year to you as well. I sincerely hope its going to be a great year for all the Clanners and their families. So glad for Amla and the boys to hit some sort of form now, long overdue. I read an interesting article about our 72 day tour of India and how that has had an adverse affect on this side. ( Ali Bacher) Basically a ridiculous length of time to tour India just before facing England at home. No way of getting your form back on those pitches for both batsmen and bowlers. Makes a lot of sense. He also carried on to say they will get their form back but it will take time to do so. Lets hope he is spot on. :woohoo: :woohoo:

yes they are but don't forget the altitude will get to them so they will only bowl in short spells and if there is no cloud around then Anderson becomes nullified regarding taking wickets.
