Thanks for the good wishes, guys - been told the normal 'he should act on the sand - expect a good run' - personnally not so sure if he will act on the sand - also the blinkers come off - so really anything could happen - he could relish the surface and win easing up - or he could hate it and trail in last - certainly not a worthy joint favorite imo....
Some nice racing on the sand - not sure how 'standard' the going will be - lol - thoughts:
R3: Beloved Jean seems the obvious one on her last effort at this track, but that was in a qualified maiden where she received weight - back at fixed weights today, so would not come as a surprise if she runs out of the PA - Mon Clair ran a fair race last week and should at least be running on when others may be stopping - lots of them trying the sand for the first time - of these I guess Golden Spectrum could be the one to watch
R4: Conditions plate where the two runners that are best in have not yet run on the sand - so anything possible - at the odds I like a bit of Xilmomante - drawn a bit wide, but she has run some very nice races with Mienie up - definite inclusion in everything imo
R5: Only 8 runners - but very open imo - Wood Be seems the right one at the weights to me, but comes back from a break and would need to be 100% to win here - Silver Specialist finally cracks a draw and should be right there again. Pimp My Ride disappointed last time, but holds SS and Dallas Dancer on previous form - so needs to be considered as well - Typical Man has gone up in the weights and I think he may have his work cut out to win here - but still has obvious place credentials
R6: Tabgold shows Sky Marshall as a scratching - so watch the betting adjustments - Burmese Cat best in at the weights by far, but is drawn wide together with the '2nd best in' Mahogany - I think Boylan Blaze from a good draw is good each way value here - and I would include the Naidoo coupling in P6 - both have good draws and either could prove to like the sand - don't think any of the others can feature
R7: Two horse race imo between Full Moon Rising and To Remember - jockeyship may decide the winner, so Full Moon Rising appeals most
R8: Competitive fillies and mares handicap - apart from the obvious ones like Howhighcanufly and Mexican Glory, I would consider Rum 'n Sugar (well backed last time and could be better this trip) and La Promesa (who tries the sand for the first time and has the plum draw)
R9: Another tough race to close - my first choice is Castanelli, who ran a great race last time when out at the weights - back in a handicap today and will win this with a repeat of his last effort - should he fail it becomes wide open imo
Would appreciate some comments for The Happy Horseplayer - always interesting to have another opinion
Play well (tu) and break a leg Elvis (tu)(tu)
