I say Niwot....only because I don't know the correct pronunciation and I have no idea what it means

I see it's off at 6 am, is that right? I will have to prise my reluctant eyes open and go sit in front of the gogbox. Still it should be fun. The racing I mean ... I've no interest in risque-clothed celebs ... unless they are male. And for some reason I don't think Francesca Cumani is moaning about men being hired to come half-undressed to the big day. Don't know why I think that, sjoe! but I do.
For anything at or over 2400 m, if I don't have a strong preference elsewhere, I head straight for an Irish-bred horse. They can stay, and they do it with style too. But I'm not so sure in this particular race, with the probable going, if that's a good idea.
Maybe I'm being ignerint but seems to me that, even if it's called "good", the going in IRE is softer and deeper than "good" in AUS. I'd love to see what the average pen reading is for both types of venue. Some objective data is needed for big international races. Comparative terms like "good" or "soft" are too vague for comparing horses from different countries ... they vary with the average for that venue, surely?
Talking of international, it's interesting (picking up Magic's comment) that 10 of the 24 runners are IRE-bred and only 3 are AUS. For those who like trivial pursuits, here's a list of where they were bred:
IRE: 10
NZ and AUS: 3 each
USA, GER, FR and GB: 2 each
