The Ibsaar race (although a Pinnacel Plate) really has me stumped - how he can be priced up so short is beyond me (as pointed out he is way out at the weights); Reconcile comfortably best in at the weights (and probably good value at 10/1) - but will she stay the 3000? Personally i agree with gregb that Dancing Red (also out at the weights) could be the right one - always staying on and should be even better over this trip - but not much between DR and Volatile - and there is an old formline that puts V behind Campo de Santana?

In the 4th Ace of Hearts seems a big price at the weights and is a definite PA inclusion imo - most other races very competitive - personally will bank Lusikisiki in the 2nd in the PA and load the other legs - Radiant Rock also seems a big price in the 7th.

Play well - and you won't get another chance this year :)-D

Frodo,I'm with you on that Pinnacle Plate......I think that if you ran that race every week for a month ,you could get a completely different result every time.....I hate resorting to "feelings" when studying and I will go wide in exotics but I have a strange feeling that Havasha might just make the pace.....and go on to surprise!

imo very difficult racing tomorrow .

i expected Edict to run well last time . I noticed Chambers replaced Lerena last time . i also noticed that Chambers had no control over Edict going to post and in the parade . I think the horse completely disrespected him last time and gave him zero during the race .Edict has done well on the inside track in the past but up to 1200m . I narrowly make him my 1st choice tomorrow with his regular pilot up . He's no banker though so i'l be adding market drift , chill factor and Frodo's ace of spies , could be a nice quartet .

One i do wanna punt is Sparkling saphir in the 3rd . If she can build on her last run she could put that soup meat field to bed . The rest of the card looks difficult , to competitive for me to decipher .

Lusikisiki and Oppie Koppie double for Saturday and then throw in Sage Throne for a treble on Sunday

Could be totally wrong, but imo Havasha does not stay - up to 1600 his best trip I 'feel' - but he has run less than 4 lenghts behind Herod the Great over 2400 and has come down 10 points since then and is 'best in' of the de Kock runners- maybe oscar can shed some light.

Edict's style of running could be his undoing on the inside track around the turn - but must have a place chance in an open contest.

Sparkling Saphir ran in a very weak field last time imo (and drawn wide over a trip where being drawn in the first 5 seems a big advantage), is held by Sakkie Sakkie who has good course and distance form and also has Gavin riding - hard to see Sakkie Sakkie missing out on the places - from the draw Flight Specialist needs to be considered for P6's imo.

Race 5 Pinnacle - RECONCILE; I have to assume her last few runs were way short of her best; before that two wins over 2400m; dont see why she can't do 3000m; new stable with Tarry.

Ditto to Frodo and Tommy re Ibsaar.

Happy new year
