Farkit. I guess it's partly due to abc this meeting being abandoned. All this talk about graft and what what. Almost 5 pages b4 the first rce of the day.. GC probably got scared we'll be emptying their coffers today...lmaof

Well said Racing Guru, went to course for nothing, only one director on course, Steve Sturless. Owners and punters screwed yet again. Vivi South Africa

Gold Circle apologises unreservedly to all racing’s stake holders and punters for the inconvenience caused by the abandonment of today’s racemeeting at Clairwood.

Whilst there have been on going problems with certain sections of the course, mainly due to an infestation of goose grass, the race track was declared raceable by officials of Gold Circle and the NHRA following inspections during the course of last week and again on Monday and Tuesday.

“It is worrying that the affected turf at Clairwood has not satisfactorily responded to treatment as a consequence of the very dry, hot and windy conditions that prevailed for the first three weeks of January and clearly we are going to have to tackle the problem from another direction,” said Racing Director Graeme Hawkins.

A full enquiry will be conducted into all of the circumstances which led to the jockeys’ protest after the running of the first race.

that is bull shit....this memo...is an insult to the racing community....i am shocked that a person of hawkins calibre ,can endorse...and actually be a spokesman for.....:
the reason i say its bull is because....the necessary check ups and follow throughs...were not done....
its impossible for us to believe that the through inspections were done on monday and tuesday....because clearly ...this was not an overnight problem.....they saw green grass on monday and tuesday...and tried to race on thurdsday....

what is annoying..apart from what has already happenned(LOSS OF A RACE MEETING)is that gold circle still continues to hood wink us...thats blood boiling....south africa ,apart from being a littlt hot recently has the most moderate of climates...especially durban...and the y still using the wind and the heat to say to us,that that is the problem....take that notion else where gold circle and sell it to the invalids..who think that the earth is square
