main dane

Been given a MR of 80 after his 1st run.On a line through the last of 3 of my 3yr old winners over that sort of trip that is too low.

BTW was not referring to this horse when I quipped under July Candidate thread about staying....this should have no problems with 2200m

Running in a handicap, which will test the theory about his merit rating being too low, or too high, or dead right.

Gosh....no place to hide from the handicapper....I hope Magic is not gonna be like some of his predessors and lump them on reputation alone.....

off a MR 80 methinks way too low and if my assessment of the horse is anywhere near correct he must come home on his lonesome...

Rated 1 point higher than Neck or Nothing. Can someone explain that to me? Mine won 3rd time out beating a horse who probably did not stay the distance and Main Dane won in a canter from way off them 1st time out. On that one is way too high or the other is way too low or as I think both are way wrong.

can only rate a horse on what its beaten..its an 80 but that does not mean the handicappers believe the horse is an 80..its just the level the horse achieved by beating sadhu (mr72) by 2.25 lengths..probably plus a pound or 2 for being "impressive"

neck or nothing beat a mr 75 by almost the same distance..
