When Are The Stipes In Natal Going To Wake Up

Everybody moans about racing in Cape Town being dodge, but it is patently obvious that all is not well when it comes to racing in Natal. For months now I have been carefully monitoring the obviously inexplicable races that some of the favourites run.

Hows it possible that She's A Stunner runs stone last, after having just run close up to some of the very best horses in the country.I know horses aren't machines, but the number of times in recent months when the very obvious bankers in Natal have been beaten before they reach the straight or before the 400m mark in sprint races boggles belief.

Antious won 5 in a row and was massively impressive when he won in Jhb,but suddenly on his return to Natal he gets punted off the boards but is beaten a mile from home.

I'm not going to start with conspiracy theories, but something seriously dodgy is going on in this centre and nobody seems to care.

Too many horses in Natal with good form are beaten way too far from home. This has nothing to do with bad trainers, horses running too soon etc.Something is not right, and those that are supposed to be policing these things just don't seem to have the slightest clue.

These are not statements I make lightly.I have been doing what I do for long enough to know when something really smells, and in this case something is definitely rotten in the State of Denmark.

Pirates, the Brown/Robinson combination are not worth staking a rand on. When will we learn ? Only ourselves to blame. 50.5kg on its back and it runs a pathetic race. They might have a month or two of good results but they wont get my money again. I laid the favourite as I never thought he could concede that weight.

I remember years ago Vaughan Marshall complained that a 3kg penalty for a winning 2 year old was too much. He said that they were young horses and to concede 3kgs in a Juvenile plate was way too much. It was subsequently adjusted to 2kgs. These days I think he was wrong. Off the subject Black Toga is some horse. I hope War Horse takes him on at the end of the month. I also find it bizarre how fellow jockeys make it so easy for Marcus to dictate from the front, I wont forget how Byleveld let him set a farcial pace on Variety Club last time out when Tales of Bravery had the pace to challenge him. For Marcus and Strydom they are granted a free uncontested lead whenever they decide to take it up, We have some very poor jockeys who make our great one's look even better,
