Entries and weights - Summer Cup

Phumelela Gaming and Leisure Limited
Hawker Hunter from the Ormond Ferraris yard was the only runner
supplemented into the R2-million Sansui Summer Cup to be run over 2000m at
Turffontein Racecourse on Saturday 1 December.
However, two runners were also pulled out of the race. Trainers Sean Tarry
and Justin Snaith withdrew Heavy Metal and Jet Explorer respectively,
leaving 60 nominations for the Grade 1 event.
Five-year-old mare Hawker Hunter has had two disappointing runs since
coming back from a rest but prior to that she won the Grade 2 Gerald
Rosenberg Stakes, beating Berry Blaze by 0.50 lengths.
The weights were also announced on Monday and Gavin van Zyl-trained Seal
has been allocated top weight of 60kg. Chesalon and Smanjemanje, who
finished third and second respectively in this year’s Vodacom Durban July,
are down to carry 59kg and 58.5kg.
Trainer Mike de Kock, who has 20 runners nominated for the Summer Cup, will
be delighted that Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile winner Mujaarib,
who is now unbeaten in four starts, has been given 52.5kg to carry. He
received a 2kg penalty for Saturday’s 0.10-length victory over Whiteline
Fever and is likely to carry just 0.5kg more.
De Kock confirmed on Saturday the Summer Cup was to be his next race and
that the Australian-bred four-year-old would be pulled out of the Grade 2
Victory Moon Stakes over 1800m at Turffontein on Friday 16 November.
One of De Kock’s other runner, Silver Flyer, who ran a two-length fourth
behind Mujaarib, could meet his stable companion on 2kg better terms in the
Summer Cup. Second-placed Whiteline Fever received a 1kg penalty for his
effort in the Charity Mile has been allocated 58kg for the Summer Cup,
0.5kg less than he carried on Saturday. That puts him 1kg better off with
Mujaarib but 1kg worse off with Silver Flyer.

I think Sliver Flyer is the right one. At the weight turn around, he should beat both Mujaarib and Whiteline Fever. Whilst his merit rating has been achieved, in the main, up to 1600m, on breeding he should stay 2000m quite comfortably.
Look forward to reading the other Clanners choices.

I'm a Silver Flyer fan but Mujaarib looks to be the most exciting horse on the Highveld, he is still improving and WILL be better 2000 metres plus, weight won't stop him imo...

I see on Hollywood, Mujaarib has been taken out of the betting and placed at SP. Has he been taken out of the race?

I agree Sheza... Turffontein suits Pomodoro and Variety Club over 1600m's is 'almost' racing for second

Looks that way Shrek, as Silverflyer has been adjusted to 28/10 now.
Value still lies with Smanjemanje as 33/1 imo
