I'd rather remain annonoumous incase a few debt collecters browse this forum from time to time, been reading the website for some time and enjoy it thoroughly. I was born into racing and grew up on the racecourses of Zimbabwe and South Africa. Also worked for various bookmakers some exceptional ones and some pretty nasty ones too, luckily thats all past me now and after betting on sports mainly the last few years have taken a renewed interest in horse racing once again.

I certainly miss the days when the track was alive with cash and the buzz was intoxicating, in fact I used to go into a sulk should the Saturday meeting be washed out.

Seen all the big punters through the years like Joe Abrahams, Derek Flynn, The Friedland Doctors and countless others and had the privilage to see bookmakers like Bill Ferguson, Harry Symons,Jnr amd Moosa Theba in their prime.

My namesake comes from a James Goodman runner from early 90's who was by Home Guard, an impressive looking individual who won a number of races including a big one at Gosforth Park and who I backed regularly at good odds due to the small stable and due the unfashionable jocky Gary Waterston.

He sadly broke down, Last Watch that is, I think at Newmarket and was euthanised.

I love

rock music
books
good beer
good crac
and betting

And hate
politicians
bureaucracy
prima doners
bookmakers in general although they are needed I guess

Have a keen interest in breeding aswell and always include it in any betting decisions.

Look foward to posting on many issues

Hi Guys,

I have re-registered under my real name, there will be no more York H.
My name is Jason Dedekind and I'm the Racing Manager of Winning Form. I formerly worked as the Marketing Manager of Hollywood, but a few months ago, jumped at the opportunity to work more in racing and with the genius Matthew Lips. I tip in a publication called the BET FORM and am known as the Bet Master.

My love of Horse racing started at a young age as I was born across the road from Greyville Race course in Mothers Hospital in Durban. Hence started my love affair with Racing, Golf and Booze.

I have worked in sport most of my life, from being a golf Pro at Umhlali CC to working the Pro shop in Durban.

My goal is to make WF the publication of choice for the racing public by building our brand around SA. I would like to add value to Racing in any way possible and will endeavour to work with the powers to ensure we enjoy our racing as much as our Rugby fans enjoy their rugby.

Any queries about any of our WF products (which include, Game On, the only Soccer Betting Guide in SA) please email me on: jasond@hollywoodbets.net and I will be happy to deal with the problems.

Happy punting gentlemen and heres to a bright future for SA racing.

Yours in the Spirit of Horseracing,

Jason dedekind

Hi. My name is Tony Evans.

I would have used Gatecrasher as my nick, but it was taken, so I chose his Nemesis instead.

I've always had a fascination for horse racing. Even as a youngster, aged 11, I recall doing the place accumulator and jackpot picks for my folks... and the gardener. That's when Gatecrasher became my favourite horse.

My other fascination in life is programming. In the early '80s while in UK, I wrote a horse racing game for Dragon 32/64 called Photo Finish, which was marketed nationally and made me a few extra quid. Then in Jhb in 1992 I wrote FormStar, a DOS-based horse racing database program, with full computerised forcasting. With twice weekly updates, we built up a small but avid customer base. But then I got married, had kids and got a "proper" job on the JSE, writing real time trading systems. But FormStar continued going, under the management of my folks.

My career on the JSE culminated with heading up the Equity Derivatives trading division at Sanlam. At the end of 2008, however, I decided I'd had enough of financial markets, and so I opted for early retirement and some fun.

I moved to the coast and settled down to do some fishing. Now with time on my hands, children permitting, I could work on updating and modernising the FormStar program. Remarkably, after 17 years, it was still going strong(ish) in its original DOS-based form, with a loyal band of subscribers keeping my mother well occupied. I decided to port the program to the web, using dynamic web pages and a new, centralised database. Work is still progressing, but a few weeks ago, I launched the public (ie free) access section of the website. It provides best bets, individual race selections, horse, jockey and trainer logs. This is just the tip of the iceberg, but hopefully enough to whet people's appetites.

The forecasts are based on a proprietary handicapping system, and a complex algorith optimised for each class of race. While FormStar does an excellent job of form-based forecasting, I haven't yet found a way to make the performance of the horses themselves any more predictable! They just don't listen. The strength of FormStar is its ability to calculate realistic winning odds. It can be a very useful tool in the hands of an astute punter.

The FormStar program continues to be used by savvy owners, trainers and jockeys as a foundation to base their nomination and riding decisions on. We also have breeders and bookmakers as clients, even the odd Teletrack presenter. And some very smart punters.

If you choose to visit FormStar, send us some feedback. Constructive criticism is always welcome.
