Hi all, my name is Brian, and I live in Umhlanga Rocks. I was born in Glasgow, into the Buchanan clan, but dragged my parents over here when I was just a wee bairn, and have lived here ever since, being on the wrong side of 50 but the right side of 60 now!
My interests are punting on horseracing, and trading in the financial futures markets, and I am also a huge (some would say too huge!) rugby fan. I am a Sharks supporter, and have renewed my season tickets to Kings Park religiously. I know nothing about soccer, except that they play with a funny-shaped ball! I have also never had a sports bet in my life, I think it would ruin the enjoyment of the contest for me, if I had money riding on it.
I don't get too involved with local horseracing, being a Tote follower the Win pools are a bit skinny for me, so I prefer the Australian, French and North American markets, but I will look at the occasional stand-alone weekend meeting locally. I will also play the U.K., but only the Grade 1 courses. I don't watch the races much, but for sheer racing pleasure, I never miss Hong Kong and Singapore racing whenever it's on TT. It's a pity we don't commingle with their pools, because I don't see much point in betting into R400 Win pools!
I live in hope, but I'm not holding my breath.
My background is in Finance and I.T., and I have developed my own software for punting, trading, and money management, so I am hoping to make some sort of contribution to the forum in these areas, despite my lack of local racing knowledge.
