Steph Miller, Estelle Blake, Gavin Blake, Chesney van Zyl, Matthew de Kock, Dishon Steyn , Candice Dawson etc are in charge of satellite yards and are licensed as are any other assistants.

Cool. Thanks for answering. That was a real question, I wanted to know the distinction. So are they fully fledged licensed trainers, or is their a different category 'Assistant' to a licensed yard?

No they are "licensed assistant trainers" who happen to be in charge of a satellite yard. Ultimately the trainer, ie Justin Snaith, Dorrie Shsm, Mike Bass, Mike de Kock , Sean Tarry etc, still responsible for anything that happens in that yard.

Thanks. I am trying to understand what the prohibitors to entry are that would 'encourage' someone to train 'under the lap'.....Is it moneyy, skills sets, qualifications???

time - not wanting to do the required tests and time(required before you get your license) to become an assistant or trainer

That does not make sense. Registrr or license as an assistant, then do the training anyway and you are doing your time at the same time. Under the lap you will never become a trainer....just an exerciser of horses....

no they don't - they become stable employees(registered or not) or don't take out a license at all and train their own horses under the trainer's name

Owning under the lap can purely be for financial reasons i.e. Not having to pay R3000 to register colors when one only owns 10%in a horse and it doesn't run in your colors anyway.
Training under the lap are people that are not registered or documented anywhere as officially belonging to a stable. This can be due to reputation or I guess a whole host of reasons. I don't believe this is right at all

Len, I will say that I have heard the names of partners mentioned in winning interviews that are not named in the Computaform..............................have to assume they are under the lap!

if you dont know the facts and the steps taken place at the moment please dont talk to loud because we can end up where a judge make a ruling....enough bullshit talk for now.
get your facts before speculating on an open forum making accusations ....your lack of knowledge going to cost you money in the end.
had a good chat with the authorities at the stables 2days ago and everything in order with the steps taken place
