What is the difference between 'under the lap' and assistant trainer? Is Steph Miller training 'under the lap' ? Or is she assistant trainer looking after a satellite yard?

These happen for many many year but many more owners are under the lap than trainer

Training under the lap is something that the NHRA should clamp down on ASAP - I remember a trainer getting hit for doping when he allowed an owner to train under the lap and that owner doped his own horses - This is something that should be stamped out as it does nothing good for the game and Trainers should protect their industry by not allowing "stable employees" to take over their yards!!

We had a few "under the lap" owners congratulated after a horses win not so long ago, seems it is now an accepted practise :S

Titch i can understand if a person takes over a horse and they dont want to pay the costs to register new ownership ... but any one can get colours at the moment so why under the lap..

I don't see the point of getting colours if you a 10% owner, its not as though the horse will run in your colours, so i guess if it means being ''under the lap'' and not being registered then that's the way i would go...

The only owners that own under the lap are people who have a bad history in the game and want to hide away from whoever they had a bad history with...
